Nearly RGN, Maybe RMN?

Hey all....

Okie, im going to try keep this short. (?!) Im a student nurse coming to the end of my second year of my diploma course. :imbar

Now i do enjoy my RGN, but i spent a period of 8 weeks on a psychiatric ward during my first year. I loved my time on this ward and i think it made me realise that RMN is what i am more suited to.

Ok, to cut the jargon, i want to know how do i go about doing a degree in Mental health once i've qulified as a RGN?? :rolleyes:

Also, as im doing a diploma course now, will i be elidgeable to do a two year course into my mental degree as i have already done the CFP during my 1st yr? (am i making sense or just confusing myself now?!) :uhoh3:

you wil be taken seriously as an RGN there is much co-morbidity now across the fields of pschy and general nurses. as far as dual training you nedd to speak to your lecturers in your school of nursing as i'm sure there is now scope for you to undertake a shortened training course following you RGN training. if you get any joy please let me know i'm currently trying to figure a way of supplementing my education and experience to gain nurse registration in america, but rmn isn't recognised there. i hope you have some luck it's suprising i've heard of many nurses changing their branch for psychi. good luck:)
