Hi All!!!

I am from Michigans thumb area and am relocating to about 30 miles south of Terre Haute.(my husband got transfered) I will be looking for a job there as an LPN. Any good job leads out there??? I would appreciate any helpful information!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also if you know what they pay around there I am curious. I have worked LTC for a long time and I love the nursing home. Second choice is Labor and delivery. But I am open for anything......

Also, off the nursing subject. Still trying to find a house in the area. There are six of us in my family. Me, my husband and 4 kids. I want a land contract because we need to get rid of our house here also. Even a short term land contract would be good.

Thanks Guys~! Great evening to you all!!!!!!!! Liz

Well, I wish I could be positive, but being from Kansas City and moving to Terre Haute was quite the shock! I have lived here for four years now and finally have decided that I will work in Illinois and pretend to live there as well. I recommend the same or working as an agency nurse. The salary in this area is horrendous and if you work in this city, do not judge all Midwest health care based on this area. Sigh...

Hi NurseLizard and Barb4575,

I live about 50 miles South of Terre Haute, in the town of Vincennes. I am just starting the RN program. Have you applied at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility?

Where exactly, are you moving to? I lived in Terre Haute for 2 yrs. and HATED it. David Letterman referred to TH as the armpit of the USA. I agree!!

However, you might try Union Hospital, or Regional Hospital in TH.

In Vincennes, there are several nursing homes. You might consider, Bridgepointe, The Lodge of the Wabash, Crestview, Colonial, and several others.

Vincennes, is a nice town to live in. There is a fishing park, playgrounds, a pool, YMCA, 4 public elementary schools, a private Catholic Grade school and High School. The crime rate is low, and the scenery is NICE. There are trees lining all the streets.

Please let me know what town you are moving to, so I can let you know whether Vincennes is closer than TH.

Good Luck!!

The further south the better!!! Caution about buying land. Make sure you do background check on history of its use.

T.H. notorious for decades of dumping. Even has a couple of hazardous substance/SuperFund sites to its name.

The good news is that you and your family will be positive new addition to the area! :p
