Celiac disease is not really a dermatologic condition, although celiac sprue patients have an increased chance of certain skin diseases, like dermatitis herpetiformis. Celiac disease pts have problems digesting any gluten-containing substances, which include wheat, barley and oats. Can lead to a wide variety of GI problems, including dehydration and big weight loss. I believe that mannitol is actually used to test for celiac disease, so it must be gluten-containing as well.

I thought it was a digestive/absorption disorder.
Anyway, here are three websites that may help. Is it possible the mannitol (a sugar alcohol) further aggravates the disease?http://www.mdheal.org/leakygut.htm
