2nd time the charm?

Yup I took the NCLEX back in August 2013 and didn't pass it . I got "near the passing standard" in all categories except in "health promotion and maintenance" (I was "below the passing standard") and "basic care and comfort" (I was "above the passing standard").

I really didn't study for it the first time since I went into the test all cocky . Plus i was working full time during nursing school and when I should have been studying (working 50-60 hours a week. I did some of the Kaplan Review videos, about 500 q-bank questions (percentage was in the 50's) and a few q banks (I was in the high 50's-low 60's there).

I went up to 234 questions on NCLEX on my first try and unfortunately zoomed through the last few questions since I was worried about getting to work late. I made the dumbest mistake on the last question before it shut down (I immediately knew it was wrong and didn't mean to submit it lol).

Anyhow that was then and now I'm prepping for my 2nd attempt at NCLEX. I'm now working at a hospital as CNA and they're waiting to pass to kick up to the next level. I'm so nervous since my exam is scheduled on April 2.

I've been doing Hurst and love their content review. I've two exams and got 86/125 on the first and 79/125 on the second.

Any tips guys, I'm sitting here in a library literally shaking right now. Thanks and God bless!

LaCharity is great for prioritization and delegation....sounds like the Hurst is working for you! I'd definitely continue taking questions, but get some great rest the night before and try to purposefully relax the day before/day of. Take your time when testing, and good luck!

Thanks Amy yeah I forgot to mention Lacharity.... I'm almost done with it, well actually I still need to do the case studies.

just out of curiosity did you use hurst? And if so what were your scores?

I am using Hurst too and planning to take the exam on April, still waiting for my ATT though, it has been 4 long weeks and I still don't have it. We have the same scores for 1st and 2nd :roflmao:, saving the other Qreviews before I take the exam. Keep us posted. Inform me how it goes! I would really love to know. Good luck to you and God bless! :D

Hi AngelAsherah what is best way to use hurst review i am going to start that and what you think about kaplan .

Brian, I didn't. I used the NCSBN Learning Extension, and I'd recommend it highly for the practice questions. However, I wouldn't recommend anyone changing their resources so close to the test, so keep using what you're using!

You are using Hurst now? Kaplan is more on strategies and I heard they have one of the best Q&A. If you're planning to buy the Kaplan strategies, try to check the Saunders yellow book. It also has test taking strategies and in my opinion they are basically the same.

@angelasherah i waiting for my ATT so i am planning too take hurst review .have you done with hurst ?

I'm also waiting for my ATT and it has been 4 weeks and I still don't have it. Anyway, yes I use Hurst and it's good with contents. I'm out of the nursing field for more than 3yrs and it helped me get back on track. It's easy to understand and I don't find it boring. They have free trial, check that first to see if you'll like it. I also use Saunders, the yellow one for content. :)

I use the online review. I finished it in 1 week. Every topic has its own handout that you need to print. Then just keep on repeating it. Also has supplementary notes about pharm.

thanks AngelAsherah appreciate it..
