Currently in a FNP program online and this will be my 2nd MSN. I have my first MSN in education and decided that maybe NP would be something I wanted to pursue but not after my first course, I am having second thoughts.
Why did I want to be an NP now? I was thinking of going into aesthetic nursing but is it worth getting my NP to enter this field?
I am 41y and it will take me another 3-4 years because I am going to school part time and still 2 kids in elementary-- its definitely taking a toll.
In addition, finding my own preceptor will be hard and I don't want to pay for a site to provide one.
Any advise?
I am in southern CA. thank you!

Frankly, I don't understand why you would make such a major investment in time and money w/o being very sure this is what you want to do. You should only become an NP if you are truly sure about this and committed. Otherwise, please don't.
There is no good reason to go to a school that does not find preceptors. It is very difficult to find preceptors. The schools state right on their website if they will find preceptors or not.
For example, Cal State LA has a clinical placement office that finds preceptors for students.
If your school does not find clinical preceptors, it is not a good school. Don't waste any more of your time and money.
Also, you don't need to be an NP to go into aesthetics. There is an RN-owned and operated aesthetics practice in the San Diego area, I believe La Jolla. You can do some internet research to see if they are still around.
