I'm going to Gainsville next week to apply for the ADN program and was wondering if anyone else was looking to do the same. I live in Lewisville, so Gainsville is quite a drive, but I'd be willing to car pool! Has anyone started to study for the Kaplan? I need to get started on that since the test is scheduled to take place at the end of June. Good luck to all of the applicants!
So class is Monday and Tuesday on campus, then clinicals are Wed-Fri. Or are clinicals only on one of the three days and we just have to see which day we are assigned? Sorry for all of the questions, but I do appreciate your help!
Disregard that last question. I see right in your post where you said "or". Thanks just the same and I will see you at orientation!
I just finished browsing my NCTC account in hopes of finding that something had changed reflecting getting into the ADN program. Unfortunately, nothing yet...although I expected that. Probably a bit too early. However, I did check the registration for Fall 2013, and checked the nursing classes. These may not be set in stone, and I have no idea how accurate they are. That said, it looks like a full day of classes on Monday, pretty good chunk of the day on Tuesday is class as well. Clinicals posted for us seem to be set for Wednesdays right now. If you can access to your school account online, you should be able to see it too!
EDIT: I just noticed there was only one first semester clinical class listed, so there may be more for other days...or maybe not. Clinicals II, III, and IV all have multiple classes listed. Guess we will see when we get our letters.
Yes, you can buy scrubs, lab coat, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, penlights, etc at orientation. But you can save yourself a lot of money if you buy this stuff online like at Amazon or even at the student bookstore (except scrubs).
You really only need a simple stethoscope and blood pressure cuff. Nothing fancy is needed at all. You can find a lot of great sales on sites that sell scrubs. I bought mine at NWscrubs.com. BTW - Landau scrubs tend to run a bit big. I would buy one size smaller. You can also go to the scrub store in Denton or in Lewisville and try on scrubs.
When you buy white scrubs, looks for brands that are not see through. The Grey's Anatomy scrubs are so soft and nice, but completely see through. I like the Dickies brand and Landau.
