I am aware of hospitals around the country being more selective in their hiring process of new grads...but I did not know it has come to this, where a new grad has to voulunteer to get a job...
:confused:Which state do you live in and what area of specialty are you interested??

I think this question is intended for the Phillipine nursing forum, nurses who are unable to find employment there are volunteering at hospitals to get experience. You will not see this happening in north american hospitals because labour laws will prevent it.

Actually, my Missouri hospital does have volunteer RN positions but they are for experienced nurses that contribute to non-direct patient care -- restocking supplies, printing lab reports, checking histories, etc. I do not believe they would consider a new grad or that the 'experience' would count since you are not touching a patient.
to nccity:
that's our situation here in the philippines, if you don't want to be an unproductive nurse, you might go into volunteer jobs or trainings,..that's why I'm looking for hospitals in manila that offers free training for at least 3-6 mos? then hoping that I'll get hired..this is just for work experience since I'm planning to work overseas spec. at ORegon,USA..I just need to work on my NCLEX, IELTS, and work experiences..
I'm really interested into specialty areas, like in hemodialysis, operating room and Delivery room..
Do you have any idea if Oregon, USA have nurse job openings? and i'm just wondering what's the minimum salary that a nurse receives in USA?:)
yeah..sorry for the wrong post here.. I'm just starting here that's why I tried to post a new thread here..but anyways, thanks for the reply.. I'm looking forward to working at american hospitals soon, after passing NCLEX and having work experience,...are american hospitals still in need of nurses?
thanks for the reply:) I'm getting curious on non-direct patient care,.do some nurses work on it? May I know what's the minimum salary? thanks!:)

Volunteering? Right now, one of your passports to become a volunteer is to become a registered voter. Since, election is coming; all they need now to become a volunteer nurse is to have a voter's id. In my own experience, I passed the interview that was conducted in a government hospital in taguig. (not to mention the hospital because it is too obvious). I attended my scheduled duty, performed well, until they kicked me off because of just one reason. I am not a registered voter of the said city. What is so unfair here is that our batch mates during the interview who failed..Are the one who will replace us because they have endorsement from RESPECTED politicians!

...and I wanted to apply to that hospital in Taguig...
The map says that I reside on Taguig but our Barangay is tied to Makati and so I registered there. Does this mean I can't apply at Taguig?
Why did they have to mess with the governance of my place..
