Hi!
I'm a new member! I would just like to ask for your suggestions whether I should take the NCLEX exam in TX or in the Philippines. Thank you!
Note: I'm a fresh nursing graduate in the Philippines (April 2014), just took the local board last week and moving to TX before the end of the year (because of the concurrency issues in CA right now).
You apply for a nursing license by examination. NCLEX is but one step in the process. As it is a national exam there is no state specific NCLEX.
Have you already applied to TXBoN for licensing by examination as an IEN and had your credentials successfully evaluated by CGFNS? It can take 3 months for the credentials evaluation ten apply to the BoN for licensing by examination. Once approved by the BoN you register with Pearson Vue to await the authorization to test (ATT) so that you may schedule the exam.
You have fees to pay for the credential evaluation, fees to TX BoN for application for licensing by examination, and $200 to Pearson Vue to register for the NCLEX (taking on the us) there is an additional fee ($150 I think) to physically take the me lex overseas.
It depends on where you are at in your application and when you plan to move.
Don't register for the NCLEX until your credentials are evaluated and you have submitted an application for a nursing license by examination as an IEN.
Since original documentation is required to be sent from your school and licensing agency it might be prudent to submit your credentials evaluation while still overseas so that you may follow up in person as needed (as opposed to having to give a family member POA to request documents on your behalf)
