Nclex

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi. I just got my bad news today...I failed my NCLEX for the 2nd time. I am very embarassed and ashamed. I graduated from nursing program last June. Its almost a year and Im currently working at a nursing home as CNA with a working visa which will expire in a month or so. after it expires, I will have month and a half until I get sent back home to Japan. So I really want to pass NCLEX before then. It will be really tough immigration wise to reenter US because I wont be coming back as a student nor person with a specific profession liscence. I wont be as much worried if I didnt have that time limit but I really want to pass it my third time and ASAP after 45 days. I will do whatever it takes to pass it and listen to any kind of advice anyone can give me.

I've been answering question on NCLEX Review 3500 by Lippincott. I bought the new formated NCLEX book. Making flashcards, memorizinf lab values.

My weakness is Medical Surgical Nursing, psychiatric Nursing, and Pharmacology. I have a very difficult time grasping the materials.

I ordered KAPLAN complete online review today. So Im planning on doing that extensively.

Please, if anyone has any advice, I really appreciate it.

Good luck to you all too!

Don't lose hope! Have you heard of suzanne's plan?

thank you...ya i actually glanced through it...but i just purchased a 418 dollar online course through kaplan....im not sure because i dont want to overwhelm myself with too much studying tools. how much is her Saunders comprehensive Review CD-ROM and the book? I might consider it.

I posted the following in another post.Just in case you miss it.

I used the following materials-

Saunder's comprehensive review(book and CD)

Kaplan CD

NCLEX Review 3000 CD publised by Springhouse

Kaplan is really helpful. it teaches you the test taking strategies.

Saunder's helps me get prepared for nursing knowledge.

NCLEX Review 3000 CD is exellent! It has 3000 questions. After going through it, you learn nursing knowledge as well as practice test taking skills. And the rationale is really good. I highly recommand it.

I've taken NCLEX twice. some tips: you dont have to go too deep into the pathophysioloy of the diseases. Focus on the signs, symptoms and nursing considerations. And really take your time when answering each question. And pray to God.

Good luck!

I wanted to retake the NCLEX in 45 days but it looks like that will not be enough if I follow suzanne's plan. I may retake in 90 days instead. Good luck to us both!

Good luck to you too! ALl these advises are good! I really appreciate it. It just when I hear what other people have used and liked it, I feel like i want to get all of them! but if i do I will have too much to go through...lol

im interested in Saunders...how did it help you?

and ya the second time i really took the time with each questions.

used my white earaser board, took a brake etc.

i tried my best to ignore the time countdown on the screen and the number of questions ive answered. its just i live in a rural area and i had to travel a day before and stay at a motel...i was nervous and couldnt sleep....uncomfortable bed, unfamiliar place, traffic, etc....may had a little influence.

what i usually have a hard time with is those revie questions that you have no nursing knowledge about...

and also priority questions. i think i think too deeply about it and also second guess myself....

on the priority questions, think simple first. airway or proper positioning or pain relief is usually the priority.

i realize it can be discouraging, but don't give up. there are people who have taken nxclex many times, and ended up passing because they hung in there and didn't quit.

[thank you traumahawk99.

i cant wait to pass!

most of success is determination and not quitting, even when things go wrong. after you pass the nclex, no one will care how many times you took it! you'll be an rn, and that's all that matters.

you will pass it if you keep working :).
