NCLEX study advise for 3rd attempt??

Published

I took the Nclex today for the second time today and got the CC page. I had a horrible time passing the hesi (took 8 times, that sounds horrible to even type!) What helped me I think was Kaplan. I took the Nclex for the first time in Aug and didn't pass. Do to different life circumstances (death and sick) I rescheduled this time and it took me out until today. I think one problem was waiting so long. I got Kaplan again to help me and so I'd have lots of questions but I feel I did HORRIBLE today. I saw a psychologist twice before my test to try and help with my test anxiety and I'm going to continue seeing her. I am so burnt out on studying, between Hesi and NCLEX I've been studying for a year. I need a new approach to all of this. I would love to know suggestion on books, study sched or anything that you think may help me pass on my 3rd try. I want to test ASAP so hopefully March.

TIA

Try the Hurst Review

first, try to figure out what your problem is.

is it content and material that you're having trouble with?

is it answering/understanding the questions?

doing this will help you hone in on your weakness. meaning, there's no point in taking courses if you feel you have a good grasp on the material.

at any rate, try Hurst like the person said above me. look up all the question/answering tips you can for nursing styled questions. and practice answering them. get nclex4000 or some type of question program. whatever you use, make sure there are rationales.

for me, i just used the HESI study guide book (dont remember the exact one, but it was blue/white colored). along with that, i did questions every day from the nclex4000, and i also downloaded audio lectures from kaplan and freurer (if i spelled that correctly).

best of luck!
