NCLEX-RN today! Good pop up...and how I studied

Nursing Students NCLEX

Updated:   Published

I just graduated on December 12th 2012. I received my ATT on the 28th of Dec and scheduled my NCLEX-RN for today Jan 3, 2013.

From the moment I graduated I began studying (for about 20 days) and I took the Kaplan course the very next day after graduation! I took the Diagnostic and got a 67% which I was told was really good. Here are the rest of my scores

Qbank-450 questions answered, 60% avg

QT1-63%

QT2-59%

QT3-57%-worried

QT4-61%

QT5-Skipped!

QT6-64%-tired of studying-when I got this score I scheduled!

QT7-Skipped! Studying is sooo overrated, LOL!

Readiness Score-64.5%-taken on/around study day 5

I have read so many stories of others studying for months at a time. I'm the type of person who goes all in when I study. I studied from the moment I woke up until the moment I fell asleep with my laptop in my lap. At this moment my neck is in agony from staring at a computer screen so much and I think I lost some vision too, LOL! But I have to be honest...I was scared to take it as soon as I did. But I also didn't think I could be any more prepared.

I didn't use ANY other formal study guides! Just the Kaplan course materials and the "Study Guide" that is floating around this website.

I went to the test center in a daze not believing this was actually happening and I had the same thought as I was sitting there testing. I was praying SO HARD for the test to end @ 75 questions! I clicked "next" answering question #75 and then question #76 was there! I wanted to fall out of my chair! LOL! I said to myself I just need to get the next questions right because my life depended on it (Dramaqueen I know)! I really didn't want to go to 265! I answered that question and had a SATA next. My test screen went blue at question #77! I didn't feel like crying like a lot of people. I felt like I did my best and I hoped it showed!

As I was walking to my car I tried the PVT. And I got this message: "Delivery successful...Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your Member Board for further assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time."

So I think this means I'm an RN!:D

Hello shannonsw2, I schedule for NCLEX on the 31st and I have finally made the decision to take kaplan. I'm so confused on how to conduct my study schedule, for some crazy reason I can't force myself to read or do the lectures lol. Did you do all the lectures and read the book? Some one help please!!

Kaplan has a study guide in the online syllabus. It pretty much tells you what question trainers to do and how many qbanks questions to answer daily. You can modify it however you like. I didn't read the book and I only watched a couple of vids. They were in areas where I personally felt weak. Tailor you studying to meet your needs. You are at the finish line! Stick to your plan and take the NCLEX ;D GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much!!

Thank you for the advice and tips!!!

As an update Ive been studying studying and studying

as of now I am starting to feel as if I am getting worse!!...idk what it is....my confidence is lower each day it feels like and there is so much pressure from the job I have on the line and family members wanting to make them proud, etc....Idk what I am doing wrong!!!....and those SATA question sometimes Im good to get them right and sometimes I bomb them dont pick enough pick too many, etc.

What else can I really do now??!...I NEED HELP =/

Hi Dubs2012! I feel your stress....I have a job lined up too and I still need to pass the nclex...during my review I had a little "slump" and I got really stressed out about it....so I took a day off from studying to relax and rejuvenate...after i took my little break I got back to study and my scores were back where they were before and started actually going up! Don't get discouraged...you got this!!!

Also, I think the SATA questions are a challenge for everyone. I stick to the true/false strategy, but they still stress me!

Yes I just took a break and watched the movie 'Ted' LOL....took my mind off things but I still feel very weak in my content and that is why I feel this way...My attention span is very short and that is why I just cant focus on reading the review books much and sitting at the computer screen for long periods of time oh my!!....but I know its something I just have to work on...

When do you take your NCLEX? mines in a week!!

Soooo just another long tedious day of study.questions.study.questions.more questions.freak out.count how many more hours left to study.more questions. AHHHH!

I bombed most of the Kaplan SATA ?'s They are so much simpler on the NCLEX. As long as you understand the content in the SATA ?'s I wouldn't worry too much about them. I even did the multiple format practice questions and did horribly the day before the NCLEX. BUT I didn't let that bother me. I heard that they were easier on the NCLEX here on allnurses.

I understand how you feel about feeling like you are getting worse...part of me believes that the question trainers are designed that way. See how you do on 6 or 7. Your diagnostic and readiness scores are great! I think you are ready but if you must..,do qt6 or 7 for a boost of confidence!

Good Luck You Got This!
