Hi all! I'm new to sign up for this site. I've been reading and reading about those that have passed, failed and have yet to take the Nclex RN. I will admit that I have failed three times:( I have been an LPN since 2007... Passed PN Nclex first time. I graduated ADN may 2013 and took my first try July 25,2013. I honesty didn't prepare well back then...kinda figured I could always take it again...but after failing the second time (sept 13,2013) I was totally devastated and depressed:( I don't like to make excuses for myself but I did have a lot going on during those time periods( running 3 teenagers to-from work n friends houses, fiancé laid off from job- I live with him, and struggling to look for a part time job for myself)..Anyhow, I eventually picked myself up and developed a study plan and this time had to have a tutor per my BON. Needless to say I felt ready to try again by first of December but my BON lost my paper work and my tutor letter etc...was horrible experience! I Finally retook Feb 22,2014. I had 75 ques and got home did pvt...right to cc pg:( Wow...I totally didn't know what to think at first...I really studied my butt off! After a week of mourning....I decided I was ******! I'm going to kick this test in the A$&!!!!!!! I've fought anxiety all of my life.....however I felt calm that last try...the first two times I took it...I took at 2pm....not good...was constantly rereading ques and refocusing:( Last time I took at 8am. ( First 2 tests I had around 110 ques)...
So since March 3rd I've been doing 150-200 ques/day minus sat/sun. I have been using Exam Cram, PDA, Nclex 4000, and two was ago purchased the ncsbn 3wk--- which has been great! I used Saunders,exam cram prior.
~~sorry for rambling but really wanted to get my story off my chest and let others know they're not alone.
I have my 4 th try scheduled for April 24... Prayers appreciated:) since mar 3rd I have been planning a wedding, found out my fiancé is getting laid off again...and I actually start my part time job the 25th...day after nclex.....Yikes! Although there's a lot going on I feel better prepared and focused for this one! I am going to pass! I will have RN after my name!
Thanks so much mamoli and juliakayjarvis:) I'm really trying to stay positive but every now and then it hits me....what if I fail again? This is complete torture! I did well in school and straight As in clinical! I'm just a better hands on than test taking! I totally don't understand how a cat test can determine your abilities as a nurse:( We're so short staffed where I live and the thought of how I could've helped that shortage months ago just upsets me..... I feel for the patients that don't have the proper care because of the short staffing....I've been an LPN for 8yrs and in the medical field for 20yrs....I've worked in many facilities and Dr offices....just sometimes get upset ...sorry for the vent session......
