I was approved for NCLEX RN for Nevada and I was approved for LVN CA. This is my journey and my story. I wanted to post a blog/article about it because its been lingering in the back of my mind about the struggle I went through. I want other people to know that these challenges are only there to make us stronger nurses in the future because it will make us practice determination. If we really want it, we will do whatever it takes to get there.
So, like most people on here with the same dilemma, I am a foreign graduate student in Nursing from the Philippines (I was born in CA, went to the Philippines for high school and college) and I already was very well aware of the concurrency law that California had before coming back after graduating. So, I went ahead and applied for Nevada. I was approved, and I took the exam after 5 months from the time I started the process. Unfortunately, I failed. I feel very down and discouraged all together to keep trying because I am urgent to work. I am currently working as an administrative assistant at a medical center. I, however, have my documents and application forms at the BVNPT and all I need to do is pay for the Pearson Vue and I will be sitting down for another exam. I am not ready yet so I will not be doing that.
I wanted to post here because I wanted to also encourage other individuals who have similar problems or situations, that they are not alone. I am working with a clinical department righ now and got to talking with my nurse manager, and he told me his medical field jourmey (i guess you could call it that). He started as a LVN then worked as an EMT, then he challenged the RN. He told me that it definitely takes patients and it takes a longer time for others.
Which means, don't give it. Whether you took it once, twice, or more, just keep on going. Be reminded that nursing is a calling and not everyone are cut out to be a nurse.
If anyone has a sample of their study guides, calendars, etc please link or post! Help the nursing community out!
