NCLEX review class in Chinese&English

Published

Hi, all. I am new and really like it here. People are very nice and knowledgable.

I live in Louisiana and I plan to become a RN in California, and I am seeking a NCLEX review class in Chinese&English. Is there any such class other than offered by Southcal Nursing Institute and American Member Service Center?

How are their reputations?

Thanks for helping.

I wouldn't do the class in Chinese. If your English skills aren't good enough, I would concern myself more with those. There are too many idioms in English that won't translate easily into Chinese.

Dear susanzue4, thanks for reply. I read some of your post and I think you always provide very useful info to people here.

I think my English skills are ok. But I still think taking a class in two language sets is the faster and easier way. It will help you to understand the subject better. Of course, A English review class will do too if it offers plenty of class hours, very detailed study, and a clinical environment.

Also, if you don't mind, may I ask a question regarding to visa screen. you mentioned that people should start the process as early as possible. Have anyone tried to apply before the NCLEX(CGFNS)exam and been successful?

I have another obstacle toward this thing because I don't have a license back in China. I left China in 1996 and there was no licensing procedure for nurses back then. What can I do in this sisuation?

Thanks for your time and help. :p

You should definitely apply as quickly as possilbe because in your situation it may take extra time. It doesn't matter when you apply for the Visa Screen Certificate, it won't be issued until about four months after you complete all of the requirements, but you may find a hold-up with getting verification from China which is required.

So it isn't a point of being successful, it is because of the time frame involved.

Hi Fading-Flower:

I am a Chinese from Anhui. I took and passed Nclex before. If you want to do well on the Nclex, I recommend you study books with English only. You have to know the concept of English related to test questions in order to do well in the exam. If you translate your thoughts into Chinese in the exam, you misundertand questions SOMETIMES. Plus, communication is big part of nursing. Thank for your time.
