I think you have up to a year to apply. Then once you apply and get you ATT letter it has dates on it that you have to test by, if you don't test by the last date you can't get a refund. Mine gave about a three month window to test. Bottom line don't apply until you are close to being ready to test.
Just curious--How long can I wait after I graduate to take the NCLEX-RN? Is there a limit?
In general, a graduating student is allowed to apply 1 month prior to the target graduation date. In California, the BRN takes approx. 6 weeks to process your application form for the license and the BRN will give you the instruction in applying for your ATT. The application process to obtain your ATT is done through vuepearson (the company that administers the test) and you pay $200 for the exams (check or credit card, depending on how you apply). You have 3 choices in applying for ATT (1) by mailing (slow), (2) by calling the 800 number (fast), and (3) by registering online (super fast). Once you get your ATT, you have the flexibility to schedule your NCLEX anytime within a year from the issuance date of your ATT. Once you have your ATT, you can register online to schedule your NCLEX exams. Hope this helps.
