i graduated in 2006 & haven't retested since 2007. i have called the board (first attempt, sent me straight to a voicemail with no call back and am on hold again right now) and e-mailed in regards to my question, but no luck yet. does anyone know the limitations to retesting? the website states "an applicant may take the nclex exam 8 times a year or every 45 days. as long as he/she applies each time and pays the applicable fees ($150.00 retake application fee and the $200.00 nclex fee)." but there is no information on limitation on years before having to take some type of refresher course.
please help. i wouldn't want to reapply without knowing first. thanks! :)

ur best bet is just to speak with someone with your BON just to 100% sure. i would write down all the questions that i want to ask so your prepared to ask them everything u need to know. so theres no forgetting and the need to call back and be sent straight to v-mail... i know how frustrating it is tryng to get answers. i too graduated back in 2006 and needed to take my test for the 3rd time 3 wks ago but i live in Jersey, and thats a different story!! believe me! so be prepared to ask them questions however many you have. sometimes the more you ask and pest them the more information you get so they dont have to deal with you... sounds silly but i think its true!!!
Thanks. It's just so frustrating. All I want to know is whether or not I can test. Haha
Yay!!I finally heard back. Okay, so here's some info for the CA nurses. The representative, Arlene, stated that after 2 years of inactivity your past application & docs are shredded. Therefore, a new application must be filled out BUT you can retake the test. Your schooling does not expire, so long as the school is accredited. With that said, CA is very backed up in app processing right now. But I'm so glad I have the opportunity to fulfill my dreams. :)
sounds great. happy to hear that everything worked out. one more thing though so if your school closed and your applying for a license you wouldnt be able to retest then huh? well different states diferent rules... good luck with everything..when are you planning to take it?

When you said, "BUT you can retake the test." did that mean that all you had to do is request for a "RE-Examination" form. Or Did you have to go through the entire registering process again (Livescan etc) with your nursing schools Director of Nursing?
My situation is: I graduated 2009 haven't been active since 2011, I tried calling to ask my questions but no one is answering it hangs up. Since I've been inactive for about 3-4 years now, do I have to go through the entire process of registering like im NEW at taking the nclex or can I just simply request for the re-examination form and pay the $150?
I also already paid for the NCLEX registration of $200 and realize I still haven't gotten my ATT and then read this thread and saw that I went about it all wrong. BUT its ok cause it says "Your NCLEX examination registration will remain open for a 365-day time period during which a board of nursing may determine your eligibility."
THANK YOU TO ANY HELP anyone could provide me, seeing that this thread is from 2012 and its now 2015
