I just graduated from a vocational school who's passing rate for 2005,06,07 was 100% and in 2008, 99%. We are required to take an exit exam which is supposed to rate your chance of passing NCLEX-PN. If your not in the range of 95% or above, you must retest. They will not release your letter of completion to BON until you pass the exit exam. You'll want a school with a decent passing rate. I hope this information helps.

I am struggling with the same problem. I have a school that is close to me, but they have rates in the high 70%. I am hoping that in knowing this, I will work that much harder to make sure that I pass. In defining if it is a good school or not, I am not certain. I hope that someone out there has some more feedback on this.
In California I checked the Board of Vocational Nurses website, where they have a section you can click on with the scores of every accredited school in the state. I also suggest this to make certain of a schools accredidation...as they have warnings on their site about schools that are not and are still giving out diplomas for LVN --- even though their students cant sit for the NCLEX. I would hope that the state you are in has a similar process for checking rates...as it seems to me schools will not give out their scores willingly, even having amnesia about them in an interview. Also don't just believe a school. I saw a schools website that bragged about 100% pass rate. What they didn't say was that it was 3 years ago and their rates were in the 70's the last two years. The LVN board gave a table of the past 5 years I think, plents of time to get a real comparison.
Yea, I went to the Board of Nursing website for my state. There is a listing of all the accredited schools, plus pass rates for the NCLEX exams. I know one school was advertising how high their pass rates were to people checking out the school, I went on the BON website, and it was much lower than they said. I was shocked that they blatently lied to people.

How important is this in considering a school? I am currently looking at some vocational and private school that offer an LPN program. I want to complete this first, work for awhile, then go back for my RN. The private school has had great pass rates, in the high 90%. ONe of the vocational school, which is pretty far from me, is decent, around 83 to 87% the last few years. But the other vocational school, which is very close to me (plus I know someone going there and she loves it) has had very low pass rates the past few years, in the mid-60's. Should I be concerned about that last school? Does it say anything about the quality of the program or the teachers? Or is it soley on the students in that class?
