i have some general questions about the nclex. my mom was a nurse and took her test back in 1980, but i'm sure things have changed since then! i am hoping to receive my acceptance to the nursing program through the local junior college this week and i have no idea what to expect.
i am in texas, and they used to have to drive to austin to take the test. is this still true? i assume with all the technology we have now the test would be done on computer and not paper.
also, how soon can you take it? i heard from a current student that he would be testing in july of this year, but he won't graduate until august. is this normal? also, how long until you know if you passed it? i want to start my lvn-rn transition classes immediately after graduation next august, but i know they won't accept you until you have your license.

NCLEX is CAT and done by computer. This link will have all information regarding the exam. You generally can not test until you have graduated and have a complete set of transcripts. Each BON is different but I haven't heard of any that allow you to sit before you have graduated.

The test is administered at PearsonVue testing centers. They are located in major cities. If you visit the website, you can find locations near you.
thanks. i feel extremely overwhelmed and haven't even started classes yet. i'm beginning to doubt that i can do this!
