Passed the NCLEX on the 2nd try!!

  1. Hello everyone,

Just wanted to come share my good news! I tested August 30th (Tuesday) at 8:00am and checked my quick results the morning of September 1st (Thursday) and low and behold I PASSED!!! The PVT trick worked for me twice, first time I failed they tried to process my payment and I got the declined message saying to try another method of payment message. The second time I instantly got the good pop telling me that records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time. It helped ease some of my anxiety while I waited for the quick results.

First time I tested I got to 75 questions and the screen went blue and I failed. Two days ago my exam stopped between 100-107 not sure because I turned my counter off after it hit a 100 questions but the screen turned blue shortly after.
For anyone that didn't pass the first time, please don't give up, you will pass this exam next time.

As for my current status, the hospital I work at will only hire new nurses through their once a year new graduate program and unfortunately there wasn't a budget for one this year. So I'm just going to start applying for jobs and wish for the best that I get a call for an interview soon.

    Congratulations, RN!

Thanks for sharing your experience and good job on passing!! It's so helpful to read about others who didn't pass the first time and go on to be successful in the second attempt.

I wish you luck in your career and am sure you will find the job meant for you and will be an amazing nurse!

Good luck, I'm sure you will do great!!

But this time around I purchased the Kaplan question bank & completed the whole thing including redoing questions I got wrong. Also wrote down rationales to help me remember & retain the information. I also created 75q tests by the different categories like how the NCLEX is broken down. I had my CPR from my 1st failed exam & basically started off with the areas I got below passing & continued to work on each section until I had above a 60% average then would move on to the next one. My friend has full access to Kaplan so I took the readiness test after completing my qbank. Scored a 60% which according to the chart meant I had a 92.8% chance of passing the NCLEX.

With two weeks left I purchased UWORLD which I what I used the first time when I failed but it's all in how you utilize resources. You can have the best question bank, program or book that's guaranteed to make you pass but if used incorrectly it's useless. So this time around with UWORLD I started off with my weak areas & made my way around the different categories. Finished about 800 questions plus re-doing incorrect ones too, before my test date. I completed at least close to 5,000 questions, I wanted to make sure there was no chance I would fail again!

    Hope this helps! Good luck...

    Hi Mag426,
I am taking the NCLEX on Tuesday. Overall I feel anxious but prepared. I have been studying non-stop lol. I have been studying with Uworld as well, and have a 66 average. What was your average? What did you do differently the second time with Uworld? I am a little scared. I have also gone over some of the videos from Hurst, and took the readiness from Kaplan as well and got a 64 on it. I honestly don't know what else to do .
