I am doing content write now. I did questions before I did not pass . So now going to concentrate more on content.

Any advise or tips .

I more thing I want to ask you.. do we have to memorize the name of the meds or it would be straight from the question??? because I am having hard time remembering the meds..:(

It is hard to memorise them all, try to study categories and common endings, break them in groups and study their adverse affects... if pt is experiencing certain symptoms you would know what to do... mix or not to mix with others and how patient can take his/her meds, I never saw med questions that asked you dosage... and one more thing memorise therapeutic levels too... Usually you will see both names of medication so ether way you are covered. Good luck!

That sucks..:( really a big torture...but don worry as i said u have aced the exam..:) mine is day afte tomorrow now...:nurse:

congratulations...:) if you could help us with wht to focus on and wht kind of questions u got...n also how many questions u got...bcoz i have heard if ur test ends at 75 or 78 question then it means u pass...:nurse:

You could have all 265 and still pass. I know of 3 people who were given 75 and failed. It is not based on the amount of questions. Passing the NCLEX is based on your knowledge. It picks up on your weaker areas and targets them. That is why you should take plenty of pre-tests before hand so you will know what your weaker areas are. Our school warned of this before hand. Good luck :)

SEE...........BOTH TIMES I HAD 265 QUEST. TOO.........:uhoh3: BUT ANYWAY, WE HAVE TO MOVE FORWARD..........HONESTLY I TOOK KAPLAN , IT DIDN'T WORK 4 ME.....BUT IT JUST ME....THE BOOK IS GOOD BUT QUESTIONS.....THEY DIDN'T EVEN CLOSE......BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, YOU MIGHT LIKE IT.....I NEVER TOOK A HURST REVIEW......... FRIEND OF MINE TOOK NURSING EXEL( THE MAIN OFFICE IN CHICAGO), THEY MOVE AROUND COUNTRY( 10 DAY COURSE), I'LL LET U KNOW IF SHE PASS OR NOT( SHE SHARED SOME INFO WITH ME TOO, WE'LL SEE). THAT'S ALL I KNOW.........CHIN UP ......STUDY.....AND THINK POSITIVE..........WE ALL WILL PASS:)

Hurst Review or the Rinehart Review are both great. The Online Hurst is 300.00 whereas Rinehart is 60.00 plus a 30.00 book (huge book) to follow the review in with fill in the blanks and questions along the way. The Hurst you have to print the info off the internet and it takes about a 4 inch binder to hold it all. I did Rinehart and a friend of mine did Hurst- both are good.

Hi all,

I have a quick question abt wht LPN and CNA can do?

Can a CNA take fingerstick?

According to Lacharity, CNA cannot take fingerstick.

LPN can give oral meds, but can a LPN give oral anticoagulants or narcotic.

Wht abt the IVs also?

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS TESTING THIS MONTH.

Thnks

CNA's = no fingersticks.

LPN= nothing invasive except for SQ & IM's.

You can delegate an enema to a CNA and no one but the RN can do anything IV (in the nclex world).

If that's true it is scary. You mean since I am the worst at all those meds, I could be targeted with more med Qs? (I have no probs with calcuations, it's the individual meds I'm concerned about). I know there are percentages they are following as well, right? Percentages in different areas of nursing?

Hey, I finally got through the whole Saunders Comprehensive review book (I needed it) and am also finding that I like the case studies in the LaCharity book. It's helpful to me.

Six more days and counting . . .

I think it is 3, too. WITH CHF you have the UPLOAD ME mnemonic.

U being Upright. :) Good luck with your testing :)

Can you share the rest of that mnemonic?

I don't know if it is here, but I went looking for mnemonics and found this website. Pretty neat! http://www.scribd.com/doc/24636748/Nursing-Mnemonics-and-Memory-Aids

Thanks!

Unfortunately.. yes :(, Meds are my weaker area as well.) I have done a review online that has taught me to target drugs by classes (statins, sartans, prils, lol's,) etc. That has helped tremendously. Try to look at it that way. If you can figure out the drug is a certain class-the side/adverse effects and nursing actions are usually the same. Our director of the program said that is why so many people take different numbers of questions. If it sees that you missed lets say, 3 questions in a certain area then it may give you 6 more in that area--to see if you can do better. You can also go to the national counsel of nclex website (http://www.ncsbn.org/) and look @ the test plan so you know what majority to expect.

PS: Good luck!! I have the Exam Cram book by Wilda Rinehart- it hits hi points and it wonderful. :)
