Hi -

Has anyone taken or know someone who has taken the NCLEX? I'm curious to see how it is. I was told that the test is different this year and wanted to know if its changed yet.

I took NCLEX the beginning of February and the test had not changed yet. The test will change in April to include up to 16% pharmacology questions. The test will also become a bit more difficult too. Personally, I thought the test was hard enough! It was the most difficult test I have EVER taken and I never got less then a B+ in any of my nursing classes. I studied my rear end off, took Kaplan and did thousands of questions before taking boards. I passed with 75 questions and was sure I failed, but didn't. Most of the people I graduated with passed and they all felt it was difficult. If you are still in school, my advice would be to get an NCLEX book and just use it to study for your exams. You will get the experience of learning how to answer NCLEX style questions and get a great overview for your test. In the end, all we really want to see is that RN behind our name! Good luck to you! :)

The test will change starting April 1. I heard they are raising the passing rate and there will be 3% lesser people who will pass. There will be lesser OB. I also wanted to comment on what the person before me said. I know about 5 people in my class who was almost failing the last semester of the Nursing program and I just found out all 5 of them took the exam this past February and passed with scores 80,98,110,150,165. They said the Nursing program had way harder questions than the Boards. But then again our school which is a Community college has a very high passing rate.

I'm in my last semester at a community college. This has been the hardest year of my life!!! I heard from others before me that they thought our college was harder than the boards. I hope they're right! We also have a very high passing rate.

I spoke to a new grad who just passed her NCLEX in February. She said she had one OB question and there were lots of questions on prioritizing and delegating.
