1. Hello To Everyone,
I am not going to be able to start school until maybe January or next Fall. Anyway I thought it would be great to just have the NCLEX book from Kaplan's to just see what the questions were like and to familiarize myself with them. I found out the book was around $35-$40 so I thought I'll wait on that I was about to leave Border's Book Store when I found and purchased a NCLEX study guide for $3.99 it's the 2002-2003 edition. My question is how current do they keep these books? Do they change from year to year? Or was it a waste of money?

PS It also came with the practice CD

    Any replies would be great

While the books may be updated slightly each year, they drastically don't change that much. Now with new questions coming on the NCLEX (they are already are there but just for trial), they might revise the books to include this. The vast majority of questions will remain multiple choice though.
While it is quite early for you to have an NCLEX book, it will serve you well. If it's broken up into sections, you can refer to it when you study certain material at school. This will give you a handle on the type of questions you will be asked and more importantly, it will guide you to use "critical thinking" in nursing practice.

Yep, I have 2 or 3 of them & use them to help study for tests. Check out ebay or can get a good deal on them.

I found Saunder's to be invaluable when studying for nursing exams. They break it into specific areas and the review questions are NCLEX style.
