This may be a silly question, but I recently graduated in Florida and am relocating to New York City in about two months and plan on being an RN there. I was wondering if I could take my state boards (NCLEX) in a different state than which I graduated from?? I never considered this option until I just recently learned that endorsement to NY from FL can take up to 10 weeks.
And you can take the NCLEX in a different state, too. If you felt so inclined, you could graduate in Florida, take the exam in, say, Wyoming, and apply for initial licensure in New York.
when in doubt, call your board. rules change faster than we can recite what happened when we were licensed. Don't base a career decision on an unofficial website, hear it from the horsey's mouth!
Thank you for all of your helpful responses. I spoke with the NY Board of Nursing this morning & they informed me that I can apply there being a graduate from FL, but I will also have to take my NCLEX in NY State.
