Hello,
My NCLEX test date is set for 4/15. Im getting super nervous, wish I had been studying more, but can't doing anything about that now.
Here's my issue: Im using Kaplan, and I have been doing pretty well, my scores are as follows: Diagnostic= 72.8 Readiness = 72.2 QT1= 72 (in begining of Jan) took it again last week and got an 80 QT2= 74.7 in Jan, took it again last week and got a 78.7
QT3=64. I am also doing ok on my Qbank questions scored low on a couple, and really, really high on handful (80's and 2 90's). My average for the Qbank is 70 and all of the categories are 65 or above.
I know my scores are pretty good, so this isn't what I am worried about.
My concerns: SATA questions and the alternate type questions. I am consistently getting these types of questions wrong. So, I am wondering if there is anyone who had trouble with these types of questions but still passed their NCLEX?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can beef up in this area that would be greatly appreciate it. I did order a new study book that is suppose to concentrate on the alternate type questions.
Also, any pointers on meds would also be awesome as this is an area I am struggling in as well.

SATA qs are tough. I used PDA: La Charity.
For meds, I didn't really study them. To me there's no way I could have learned them all. So I only looked glanced at the major classifications Beta Blockers, Anti-psychotic, ARBS, PPIs, etc. Look at how they work & the most common adverse effects. On my exam, I think I had 3 and I just winged them.
Thanks for the reply!
I purchased the La Charity book, and I got Lippincott's NCLEX-RN Alternate-Format Questions 5e. They should be delivered tomorrow from amazon, so seeing that you thought it helped, as have others (from what I read) I'm pretty excited to get it.
I was thinking the same thing about the meds. Ive been trying to class them, but Im still having some trouble with that, but Im trying to do what I can.
Im so nervous about the alternate type questions I am starting to wonder if I should push my test date back...but Im pretty sure that wouldn't do any good anyways.

Personally, I wouldn't push the test date because we're never going to feel ready for the NCLEX. But if you think the extra days will help then go for it. Stay strong, you're almost there

Dont push your date back , I just passed 75 questions . I pushed my date from march 13 to the 18 after my classmates scared me all the stuff I studied in the last 5 days were not on my test , I had about 10 SATA .. none of my study group was good with SATA but still passed . Your scores are much higher than mine so Im sure you will pass . Go get your blessing
Thank you. I don't think I am going to reschedule. I think it will just be best for me to get it done on the day I have picked (because seriously, if I let myself postpone once I will just keep doing it, and I already rearranged my life enough for this test date)...
I got my 2 new study books, have only looked at one at this point, but think they will help a lot. I guess I will just keep trucking away with Kaplan, the 2 new books and my Saunders.
I think my biggest issue is there is so much info that could be on this exam that I feel overwhelmed. But, I guess that is to be expected, it is after all NCLEX. LOL
