I have a question,
Theoretically, you pass the NCLEX exam then you have to supply your SSN to obtain your RN license for you to practice.
It says in the letter, the letter that we recieve, "your file will be destroyed if an SSN, is not shown"
An RN license is valid for 3 years.
My question is,
What if I cant provide an SSN with that span of 3 years to obtain my RN license, do i retake the NCLEX exam?
Thanks to ALLNURSES.com

Moved your thread to the International Forum where it is more appropriate.
Assume you are speaking of CA in terms of licensure; please just take the time to do a search here for the threads containing specifics as to what you will need to do to maintain your NCLEX results. Much has already been written on this topic and you will need to go thru licensure in another state to maintain it. Again, much is written on this topic.
The license is only valid for two years in CA, you are speaking of the actual passing letter. That has a three year validity, and licenses are not issued to you until you present a SSN# to them.
so it goes like this, Im an NCLEX passer for the BON in California:
I need an SSN to get my RN license..
and If i cant show an SSN within 3 years,... I have to take the NCLEX exam again for Cali?

Yes as California unless you have extended with them (some did it last year) or you apply for licensure to another state your file will be destroyed including your NCLEX results
extend? you can file for extention of your RN license even without your SSN?
i just want to get it clear.. but thanks for the info, so far its helping me clarify alot of things :)

A few members wrote to Ca before their file expired and asked for a year extension due to retrogression and they got it. Remember though you haven't got a license as they will not issue one without a SSN so all you are doing is extending the expiration date on your file
Best suggestion is to go thru a state that will issue a license without a SN#, before your letter will expire. Would start the process in the last eight months or so before your letter expires.
Much has already been written on this, please just do a search for those threads.
