What would be the best NCLEX book in your opinion (for the NCLEX-RN, not the NCLEX-PN) - I was at Border's today looking at them but I was so overwhelmed with the different books they have and I'm starting nursing school this fall so I'm NEW and I wouldn't know the difference between a good and not-so good book.
Are Sprague stethoscopes any good? I just got my orientation packet today (the actual orientation isn't until July 25th, tho) and we have to buy our own. The uniform store that we have to order through has Sprague-brand stethoscopes for $14 each, + tax. Should I buy one of those or should I just spend some extra money and buy a Littman (are the Littman Selects or Littman Lightweight II S.E. any good)?
Thanks for your input, everyone!

Saunders and Kaplen are good NCLEX books. Dont buy a million of them because some are not so good. I would highly suggest Saunders.
I like the Littman lightweights.
Good luck with nursing school!!!

I have several different NCLEX books, and like posted above, there are good and bad! I like Saunders, Mosby's and Lippincott. All 3 are very good.
As far as stethoscpoes, I love my Littman Classic. It is WAAAYYY more comfortable than the Sprague with way better hearing. As a student, you may just want to go with the Sprague if you are on a budget, but as a student, I bit the bullet and bought my Littman!! Just beware, keep it with you and keep your eyes glued to it. They have a way of walking off...

When it comes to stethoscopes I'd say spend the extra money and get your self a littman. It's worth it. At the end when your working you won't have to go out and buy a good one cuz you'll already have it.

I got the Saunders book (4th edition) i think, and used that one for my Hesi, and it works really well. It does a pretest and then tells you what chapters to study. The one I have has a blue cover.
Yeah they had different Saunders books so that confused me as well!
what's the Hesi?
Thank you everyone for your suggestions!
it really helps me a lot! :)

I agree with the above posters, go for the littman. It is a very good investment.

Ok...I know I'm a little bit Type-A, but I searched this site for what other nurses were buying for stethoscopes before I bought mine. I ended up really biting the proverbial bullet and bought the Littman Master Cardiology (I did have a coupon though!)
I LOVE IT. IT IS AMAZING. I MAY SLEEP WITH IT UNDER MY PILLOW. (Don't tell my husband).

Gotta love it!!!
