NC A&T ABSN 2017

Published

Hi all, I'm planning to apply for NCAT ABSN program and I wanted to see who else is going to apply. Also would you mind posting your GPA and TEAS Test scores so I can compare? My GPA, unfortunately, is a mere 3.1 and my TEAS Test score was 80%. I'm debating if I should retake it.

Grading scale for the nursing program once enrolled. 80% is lowest passing score

Hi all!

I am currently taking pre-req's to apply to the spring 2018 cohort but like to check in with other cohorts stats. Where did you all take the global health course, at A&T or at any community college? I go to UNCG and have not found an equivalent course at my university for this class.

So you were not required to have finished all of your pre-reqs before your actual application was submitted? You can apply, be accepted, and just make sure you finish pre-reqs before starting in January?

I think most people are taking the global health nursing course at A&T. I'm currently taking it right now online. And I think it will be offered in the fall.

And I think you can still apply even without having all your prerequisites completed.

I wonder how long it takes for the whole application process. I submitted mine last May, and waiting to hear back. Does anyone know when the school mails out their decisions to the applicants?

I also heard the school is expected to enroll around 25 to 30 students into the program.

Oh wow, after creating this thread and didn't see any replies for a few days I forgot to come back and look. I'm really happy to see that you guys are responding. I am also taking Global Health online right now at NC A&T and will be completing it within the next week. I'm still in the process of submitting my application (late, I know) because I'm very worried about the essay portion. I'm not sure what they look for during the interview so I feel that I should make my essay look as good as possible.

Hi Bryabtda117, so sorry for the late reply. Yes, I have applied for WSSU last year and will probably apply again this year. I am currently completing the Global Health prerequisite at NCAT right now and then will have to retake my chemistry at a community college this Fall. I didn't fail chemistry, but for some reason I was never able to take the lab because it was full. I have spoken to the nursing department at NCAT and I got a similar answer about retaking the TEAS. She said as long as it was over the required score I should be fine.

Hey everyone! I just got accepted into A&T ABSN program for the 2017 cohort. I applied around April and was offered an interview on June 10th. I just received my acceptance letter last Friday and I am very excited! My stats were an 88 on the TEAS test, 3.7 GPA graduated from NcState, and I also work for Moses Cone as a NT. The interview process was super laid back and all the women on the panel were extremely friendly. They basically asked you questions about your essay, what it meant to be a nurse, and that sort of thing. I wasn't nervous after it started. Let me know if you have any questions!

Congratulations packqueen33! Your stats are amazing, not surprised at all that they accepted you ^_^ I just sent in my application today, very nervous. Do you know if they considered your experience as an NT? I've been working at UNC Hospital as a CNA for about 9 months now; I'm hoping they don't just look at my grades.

Hey everyone, I was also accepted. I think I applied March or April, my teas was an 80, and GPA 3.8. Global Health is only offered at A&T but at least its online. I submitted an application without my CNA hours/license, and developmental psychology pre-req. I only had to write a "Plan of Action" basically a paragraph describing when I plan to take these requirements. I must complete it before December 15. I am currently enrolled in an online psychology class at gttc, and I also registered to get my CNA license from forsyth community college in Winston-Salem. Its only 8 weeks and it was very cost effective. I never had any type of nursing experience, but during the interview, I knew the roles of a nurse and why I wanted to become one. If you submitted an application last may, It would be a good idea to call the school and just make sure its going threw the decision process. It didnt really take long, my interview was also June 10 and I applied april of this year. The school of nursing emailed my decision letter last week I believe. I feel that the essay highlights the application. I had NCAT writing center proof read my essay three times. Last thing I wanted was simple mistakes. I completed it in probably two weeks. I wish everyone luck, and congrats to who got in!

I'm sooooooooooooo glad I found this. Hey everyone! I am looking to apply for 2017 cohort as well. I went to an informational about two weeks ago and turned in my transcript for review. Just waiting to hear back on that. My gpa is currently a 3.12 and a lot of the prerequisites I have are already fulfilled due to me obtaining a Public Health degree from ECU back in 2014. I have my CNA's, they just need to be renewed and I'm taking the TEAS test next month! Good luck to everyone!

Hi again everyone, just wondering if any applicants that have been accepted to the program had any sciences left over once they applied. I am in a time crunch and I wanted to have all my sciences done by the time I applied but I am thinking about not having microbiology done or my CNA license but I assume that sciences are most important. Has anyone had this dilemma? I see some of you applied without having the non-science classes done. Thanks!

I applied without psychology, a science course, and I took the summer session I class online at GTTC for 208 dollars. I do not think any of the prerequisites carry a priority over the other, as long as its completed before entry into the program. No worries. I also applied without my CNA license, and I enrolled in Forsyth College CNA program. They have all schedules available for different times if you are looking for a flexible schedule. I mentioned all of this on my Plan of Action statement required if all requirements were not meet. Hope this helped
