You are learning one of the first lessons of the military. Hurry up and wait.
Do not resign your position. Take military leave that way you have a position in case you do not make the Navy a career. Your employer can not turn it down for military leave. If you got out of the Navy before 5 years they will have to give you a position equal to the one you left. Also they have to give you with all your senority and raises you would have gotten if you had not gone in the Navy. By law you do not have to give them 2 weeks notice if you do not have your orders but have to give them reasonable notice. In fact you could only give them verbal notice that you want military leave, but I wouldn't do that.
If possible give your boss a heads up that you are leaving. I know that some bosses would make it diffucult if you do.
hey MUrunner
I too just found out i was selected and awaiting my detailer to call me. I called him today and his voicemail said he was out of the office for 2 weeks. I'm not going to ODS til probably October so I have a little more time but you may want to check with your recruiter to find out more info for you. Pvt message me. We probably have the same detailer (all 0-1 thru 0-3s do). If so his voicemail today said he was out of the office for 2 weeks.
I still don't have mine. I was told 11 Sep ods and San Diego by detailer but don't have official orders. Wonder why you have yours and I don't? Jealous!
That is just how it works sometimes in the military. We have a saying, when the military wants something it is quick, but when you need something it is slow.
Don't be discouraged, since you have been told verbally that you are going the orders will be coming. Sometime it just depends on who is writting the orders and why someone gets them quicker then someone else. There is a good chance that you do not have the same detailer is all. He is also going in the new FY where you are in the old FY.
Understand your concern, I also dont believe it until I see it in writing. How often are you calling your recruiter? I would be calling every other day for the rest of the upcoming week and then everyday. Have you given your employer the heads up yet? It would be a good idea to let them know when you are taking military leave. Not sure of the time frame but you can take time off before you have to report to the Navy. I do not believe that it states an exact amount. If you have not already do a web search on federal law covering military leave so you know your rights. There are many employers that do not know the law and you have to look out for yourself.

Anyone else having a heck of a time getting Navy orders? I was told my ODS date and first duty station, but nearly a week later, still no orders. I just want to be able to give 2 weeks notice....
