Navy Nurse Application Process FY 24

Specialties Government

Published

I wanted to start a thread here because I can never seem to get consistent answers on these topics. I will be submitting a package to the Navy for their nurse board. My specialty is Med/Surg. So far this is the general information that I have gotten, hopefully it will be helpful for anyone that comes looking. I will update as my process moves along.

There are currently slots available for med/surg. There is no experience required. They used to require 2 years of experience, but as of right now that is gone away. There is also currently have a 50k bonus for 4 year obligation and 30k for 3 years. Kit processing is typically 6-8 weeks for package building to include you going to MEPS and getting credentialed. Board usually takes 30-45 days.

Hi! I was looking to join the military as well. Although I'm kind of lost on which one might be best. Can I ask why you chose the navy?

Actually, I decided to process for Army, Navy, and Air Force and the reason is because all of their processes are slightly different and timeframes as well. It seems to take forever. My goal is just to commission. I don't have a huge preference for one branch over another. I am prior service Army enlisted. I got out, finished my BSN, and now want to commission.

I just received a PRB "Yes" on Jan 19th. I submitted my packet in Oct. 2023. I chose the $50k/4 year bonus.

Congratulations. That's great news.
