Hello, I am applying to NAU's nursing program in Yuma for Spring of 2017. I have a GPA of 3.69 and I am going to take the Kaplan this month. Just wanted to make this post and connect with others who plan to apply for next semester. Would be nice to see where everyone else is at and get to know people!

Hi! I'm currently in the Yuma NAU BSN program. My advice (since your grades are comparable ) would be focus on the Kaplan. It's a hard test, to make it worse, they have changed it, so you can't get good advice from people already in the program. This semester was the first semester of 20 applicants being accepted. We have a class of 18 and it's perfect. Don't waste your time or money on the Kaplan practice book, it did us no good. Study A and P. Yuma is a great city, I relocated from elsewhere and have settled in pretty well. So far program has been amazing. Instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Good luck!
I just saw your post vintagegal ! I took the Kaplan last month and got an 88% overall and 85% on the science portion. So I have my fingers crossed. I just wanna find out if I got accepted or not already! It's relieving to actually talk to someone who's in the program here in Yuma. Not many people in Yuma post anything on here nor do I know anyone who's in the program in person, so it's hard to get advice or input on the program. Is this your first semester? :)
Yes I am in first semester and you're grades and Kaplan are comparable, I think you'll get in.
I hope so. Do you have any advice about starting the program?
It sounds so silly but for your stethoscope, review how to put it on. Many people were putting the earpieces in backwards and couldn't hear anything.
Ask me anything and I'll try to answer!
For the stethoscope, do they only require a certain color or can you get any color you want? I know some schools are strict on that so I just want to make sure before I go out and buy one.
Any color. Please invest in a good one so you can hear. Litmann classic is recommended and is a good brand.
Yeah I've already been looking into that brand. :) Thank you!

Hi Vintagegal. I am curious how the program schedule looks? How many days are you on campus and clinicals? I live about an hour away in California and I am thinking of applying.
