NAU/MCCD or ASU/MCCD CEP program

U.S.A. Arizona

I am trying to find out which is a better program and which one is cheaper. I already have a BS in Family & Human Development so I have most of the pre-req's completed for the program. Since this second degree I will be paying for out of my own pocket I need to know which one is cheaper. Also I only have HS chem, does anyone suggest taking the college level Chem for the nursing program? Finally has anyone taken SOC 390 (Stats) at ASU? I am trying to find out if that will count for my Statistics class or will I have to retake a stats.

CinDRnyc,

I want to go onto graduate school as well so I assumed that the ADN program was a start. I didn't know about the NAU program until after we got stationed in San Diego, and it's been hard to get any information on it since I am not in Phoenix. I am taking BIO 202 and Chm 130 online at Phoenix college this Spring and I was planning on taking BIO 205 in the summer, I have to come to Arizona for that since it isn't offered online and I will not take it at RIO, had nothing but issues with that school. I'm not sure I can handle bio 202, cm 130, AND fon 241 in the spring. BIO 202 is going to take a lot of work from me. Since I have a bachelors degree already I don't need to take any humanities classes, that's a plus!

My husband and I are in San Diego, he is in the Navy. there is so much going on with the Navy you never know how long it will last these days. I already decided I have to work toward what I want because we never know where we will be tomorrow.

Lovebug,

Can you read PM messages? I wanted to send you a message.

I'm not sure....new to all this lol

I tried sending you a PM but I don't think you can receive since you don't have a subscription.

I got your message, I replied, and I sent an email lol

Lovebug, I took CHM 130 and BIO 201 together and OMG I sooooo regretted it! I took them both in person but it was so hard to study for both. I did have a 4.0 before last semester and then doubled up on the science classes and ended up getting a C in BIO 201 and an A in CHM. Clearly I studied for one more than the other O_o Ugh. I may have to repeat BIO 201 so if I had to do it over again I would spread it out between the 2 semesters. FON 241 is easy though - it was a great class to take!

Did you look into ASU's Bachelors to BSN bridge program? Last I heard it wasn't very competitive to get in at all because it was so new. It is for people that already have bachelor's and want a BSN.

I took BIO 201 by itself last semester because I knew it would be a LOT of work. And I managed to get an A but just barely. I am taking BIO 202 and CHM 130 online this semester but I also have my husband to help me with the chem so that might be the good part about taking those two classes together. If FON 241 is super easy I may end up taking it in the summer, I don't want to do too much with my science classes.

I haven't looked into it, but my main problem is I will be paying for this degree out of my own pocket and I know that ASU can be expensive. That's where my first bachelors is from.

Good luck...I'm starting the NAU CEP program this summer and I went with it rather than the ASU program mostly because of the cost (yes, ASU is more than double the cost)...I'll let you know how it goes...

ddmad, did you have to wait a long time to be placed? And at what location are you at? I have the Fall semester to finish before I can apply.

Congrats ddmad! :w00t::yeah: I am still waiting on my clearance card but then I will be sending in my application for the waitlist! Can't wait. Keep us posted! I would love to know how the program is going!

Hi Ahsile...I made it in on my first try (I received my acceptance email 10 days after my interview/application submission, yes I was shocked as well)...I am doing the SCC/NAU program...

Thanks lovebug...Good luck to you both and I'll certainly keep you updated...
