NAU Flagstaff - Traditional BSN - Fall 2011

Published

Hi guys! Who applied to the NAU Flagstaff campus? I know the deadline was only three days ago, but I'd like to get in touch with some other Flagstaff hopefuls as we wait for April to get here :). That seemed to be when letters went out last year.

Hi everyone! I new to the threads but I applied to both Nau Flagstaff and Tucson. Im very nervous about getting in I have a 3.6 gpa and got a 94% on my hesi and have one class in progress. What does everyone else have?

Sorry I missed your post. I got 96 on the Hesi, have a 3.9 gpa and no classes in progress. My volunteer experience was old so I just did some hours with the food bank to have something fresh and I have CNA certification as my healthcare experience. The one thing I'm a little worried about is that I've done prerecs all over the place. Hopefully they don't hold that against me. Oh, I also have a B.A. in English from LSU. If I make it in I hope I'm not the oldest one there.:)

I had an unpaid internship at a hospital in the past that required me to work closely with patients. I did things such as bathing, changing dirty linens, feeding, and taking vital signs (although I legally could not chart them). I wasn't just filing papers all the time. It was real work! So, I'm hoping that experience benefits me.

Right now I volunteer at the local Shriners Hospital for Children. I was a scoliosis patient there 8 years ago. I want to work with kids someday :).

D- Shriner's is a wonderful organization. My cousin has cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. Took her five years and I don't know how many surgeries to walk but thanks to Shriners she is doing great has two children and a husband.

Sounds like your experiences are perfect. I think they just want to make sure that people have some concept of what they're getting themselves into.

I got rejected from the only other nursing school that I applied to this year. Now I'm really, really hoping that I'm admitted to NAU Flagstaff's program. Otherwise, I have no backup plan for next year while I try applying again :X

Any word on when letters will be sent out?

HI! May I ask, which nursing school you've applied to?

D- Based on history I'm expecting to hear something next week. Last year notifications went out the 3 rd week of April. The advisor had said that we should hear late April so we'll see.

I also applied to TCU in Fort Worth, TX. There were only 33 spots and over 200 applicants (so I heard). But, I got rejected. Now I'm really hoping that NAU works out...

Nomad: I'm glad to hear that! And my 21st birthday is on the 27th, so my decision from NAU could make it either a very happy or a very sad birthday. haha

My birthday was yesterday (though I am slightly older than 21:) by over a dozen years). I checked the mail three times just in case. Hopefully we'll both have a great birthday month.

I wanted to add that I got a letter from undergrad admissions as well. I can see how someone might think it's the program acceptance but it wasn't from the school of nursing.

ok nau hopefuls, let's do an experiment. if you have an active account on louie click on the major/minor tab and see what it says. i'm curious if this means anything. it has always been blank when i have looked before but it isn't blank on mine anymore:rolleyes: it says "bsn degree seeking tucson north". it's in the upper right hand box when you first log into louie.

hi! i just checked mine and it doesn't say that for me :( i wish u the best of luck! :)

LOL. Yeah, I don't know where the other NAU folks are. Hopefully not many people applied! (I wish...)

I'm actually from California. I have family in Flagstaff which is why I chose to apply to nursing school there. I don't know anything about letters except what you know - about the 3rd week in April based on previous years. I have two prereqs in progress (A&P 2 and Micro). My prerequisite gpa right now is about 3.3 (not good, I know), and my cumulative HESI score is 93.02%. But my Evolve Reach account also says that my HESI score is 91.82% with a class average of 83%. So...I don't know which one it is.

Best of luck to everyone!

May I stop you in you:or tracks and enquire what are some of the jargon terms that most americans love using to make us all seem so dumb; what are those alien terms like, HESI score, Prerequisite GPA ,3.3 score and A%P 2 and of course micro, what is this language you are all trying to develope over there across the pond. Just a dumb Irish training nurse, wondering what alien world exists over there,.

Happy to explain but do understand that this thread is specifically directed at students applying for one particular program in one particular area so the jargon is specific to this very small group of individuals. Hesi is a nursing school entrance exam. Prerequisite gpa is prerequisite grade point average. Micro is microbiology. A&P reefers to Anatomy and physiology.
