National University, San Diego Cohort 79

Published

Hi! I plan to apply for NU's cohort 79 this year. Deadline to submit applications is May 10, 2024. I figured I would make this thread in case there are students out there who are interested in applying for the program as well. ?

To those who have been to the pre-nursing forum, how long did the meeting last? I need to register but I'm unknow sure if it will conflict with work.

the pre-nursing forum was an hour long when I attended back in February.

In the nursing forum on March 12 they informed us that there is only 18 seat for the upcoming cohort. It will go back to 40 seats with cohort 80. They also said  this cohort will be real competitive due to only having 18 seats. You need a GPA of at least 3.6 and a TEAS score of like 90 just to get an interview 🤦🏾‍♀️

Sorry I'm just now reading this! Well that sounds all encouraging 😩 I'll still apply and see what happens but if not I can always apply again in July.

I just got home from taking my TEAS. Not want I wanted😭 That English section was harder for me than science, and English is my first and only language 🤦🏾‍♀️ It brought my score way down.  I got an overall 80.7%. Should I retake it?

Oh no! I would retake it if you have the means to. Since the deadline for this cohort isn't for another few weeks, you can brush up on areas that you missed and retake the TEAS maybe next week? I am barely starting to review the exam while taking A&P 1 with NU right now. How was the rest of the test aside from English?

So math was really easy. I scored 97.1% in that section. Science wasn't as hard as I thought it would be I scored 77.3% there and reading was 87.2%. I really only got like 2 long passages. For the math they actually gave me the conversions for measurements.

That's good the test gave you conversions! How long did you review for? I would definitely focus on English as that's the area you didn't score well on and brush up on other areas from science to increase that percentage up. Any tips on how to best approach math and science though?

I paid for a monthly subscription  to nurse hub. They go over everything. It's broken down by section and they have a short 20 question quiz at thr end of each topic with in a subject. Then they have like 5-10 full length ones per subject.  Just wish I would have went over English more.

Oh I studied off and on for like 6 weeks.

So took the test again and went from 80.7 to a 91.2%

NICE! That's such a better score! I'm going to take mine after my A&P 1 final since next week is my final week of the class. How were the questions this time? Anything I should look into to better prepare?

I swear I got the same test just in a different order of questions. When it comes the the English read the whole question.  It's pretty tricky.  Math is my best subject got 100% this time.  It's basic, solve for x, order from least to greatest, conversion

For those that have attended the nursing forum-

Is there an expiration for prerequisites?

What is the program cost?

Are you more likely to be accepted if you have a previous bachelor's or is that irrelevant?

Considering National as my prerequisites are 8 years old and don't qualify for most JCs but don't want to retake!
TIA!

I don't believe there is. I just looked in the nursing packet from 2023 and it doesn't say anything but you need a minimum of a C. I applying for the BSN second-bachelor's degree. They also have BSN generic entry.  For each cohort ots comprised of both. National does make you take BIOSTATs with them (mandatory)
