Hello,

I know this thread is for Cohort 25. I got an email for an interview for Cohort 26. I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with what kind of questions they ask in the interview.

Anything would be much appreciated! Thank you

Hi, congratulations! Our interviews were done on Zoom and went by really quickly. The questions I got during the interview were:

What is the difference bw diversity and inclusion in healthcare?

How do you practice effective communication?

What does professionalism in nursing mean to you?/Give us 3 examples of professionalism in nursing.

Two reasons you chose National over other schools?

Why do you want a career in healthcare/nurse?

Congratulations!

I was asked how diversity in nursing could be supported and increased.
Everyone had some variation of the diversity question.

I was also asked why I wanted to be a nurse.

It was a very fast interview

@Kellienw Congrats! I wouldn't suggest doing too much to prep ahead of time because the school is unprepared themselves and despite having 20+ cohorts, it seems like this is their first time doing things.  If you have a busy schedule, consider starting your titers/vaccines now along with taking your BLS class.  We were initially given about two weeks to complete those but I guess they realized that was impossible so it was extended, not sure what the case would be for you class. Be prepared for lack of communication with staff and to eat lunch/study outside on lab days.  They "right-sized" and got rid of access to the floor that had a student lounge area, etc. and still raised our tuition a month before we started the program.  The class for your first month is really easy (no tests) and just gets you into the routine of school and the professor is very nice. Maybe during that time go over medical abbreviations and how to take vitals including manual blood pressure unless you already have experience. I don't so when I went into my next class I thought there would be a demonstration and explanation of how to do these things but there was not.  You may also want to have a pair of scrubs ready, the supplier of our scrubs did not send ours on time for lab days and staff told us to buy new ones.  Personally, I didn't and showed up in casual clothing for the first two weeks because I felt like I shouldn't have to buy more after paying $250 for orientation and the orders were submitted three months before we started in-person classes.  Some people still haven't received the entire scrub set or are missing certain pieces that they ordered.  On a brighter note, consider joining NUSNA, I feel like it's worth it just for the mentor program.  I know its super negative but I just wanted to keep it real on what to expect and how to prep, I hope this helps!

@ki13

Thank you so much for this info. I know it's a couple of cohorts back and I am about to start 27 in April. I am so curious about the schedule. Can you give me an idea of when clinical are and class time is scheduled? I know I depends on your professor/clinical availability but in general are the clinical days on the weekends and class time during the week? How many days for each class etc? Knowing the schedule changes every month or 2, I am trying to wrap my head around what my life will look like for the next 2 years aka how to juggle everything on my plate. Thanks so much fo any insight you can give!!

Hi I am applying to National University's BSN program and I was wondering if anyone knows if theres an online community college or another school you can take the co-requisites to graduate for the "340A-spanish workplace and Spanish 341- Cross-Cultural" courses? or are they only offered at NU?
