National University to CSU San Marcos

I am one class away with my prereqs being completed at National University, when I am done I would like to apply to atleast 2 different schools. One of which is CSU San Marcos. Has anyone who has attend National University in San Diego ever had problems transfering their prereqs to CSUSM for applying to the generic bsn program? If so, do thet require you to repeat any classes. Thank You.

your best bet would be to call the advisors at CSUSM's nursing program. Their contact information can be found on CSUSM's School of Nursing website. they'll be able to answer your questions.

CSUSM told me classes at National University were fine.

I am currently enrolled to take about a years worth of pre-recs with National University in route for the (post-bac) accelerated BSN option. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who can help me compare the pros and cons of National with those of other programs. Perhaps this is more of a question of private versus public programs...

I'm hoping you have already made it into a program!

I did attend NU then transfered to CSUSM. When I went to apply there were several classes from NU that did not count towards the pre-reqs. I ended up with too many units that didn't count for anything. It bumped me out of financial aid eligibilty. For example: I took NU's stats class and got an A+ (I could not believe it!), however none of the community colleges nor CSUSM would accept the class as credit for math or stats.

If you have not been accepted, I would go to an informational and ask which classes will transfer. I was able to transfer some of the classes into CSUSM, but I was told this past fall that they were changing what they would accept. Although I had achieved A's at NU I had to retake classes at the community college and through CSUSM extended learning to apply. If you can't get answers that way, make an appointment with an admissions advisor (not nursing, regular admissions). Take your cataloge (spelling) and transcript (even unofficial) and ask if those classes are accepted as transfer ans specifically fill which requirements.

Lastly, you will need to take the required chem classes for CSUSM. I was told directly that CSUSM would not accept any online science classes from NU. At the time those were the only ones available to take in my area through NU.

CSUSM will tell you to check http://www.assist.org to check whether your class is transferable or not. If not it may still be possible to appeal it. But Assist is a good place to start.
