Anyone else apply to National University in Fresno, CA?

Good luck!

I share the same sediment as nuclass20022. I’m not here to dispel rumors or point my finger. The pandemic has temporary changed the format of the program, which should alert you about the program’s leaders and their ability to make adjustment to meet COA guidelines and standards to keep the program open. The current program PD and assistant PD are very approachable, professional and personable. I honestly feel they care about the students success.  Lastly, for the ones complaining about the program, maybe he or she is spending too much time gossiping, and not  enough time in the books. please don’t bite in what others tell you, do you own research, make an inform decision and Go with it.

It is a fine program but it definitely requires a lot of dedication to pass the didactic phase. I honestly feel the change in faculty has made the program better. You will spend more time with anesthesia books than your family but it doesn’t mean you won't able to have time to eat and rest. Since Covid, the university has modified the program to online but the quality of lecture is not jeopardized. The goal of this program is to prepare you to become a competent independent anesthesia provider and the faculty are definitely helping their students to achieve this goal.

I also want to point out that the program is indeed demanding, but you will have time to spend with your family and to take care of yourself. Some of us even have a per diem job and we are doing just fine. Please feel free to reach out if any of you have further questions.

Good luck to everyone on their interview tomorrow!

How did interviews go for you guys? I really want to know what to expect

I second Kuoc360. We would very much appreciate it.

Can those who interviewed yesterday share their experience?

I'm mostly curious to know if they asked any clinical questions.

Thanks.

Has anyone had any calls back?

Last year we didn’t hear back until all interviews were conducted. They still have interviews they are holding on the 19th. I’m sure you’ll hear soon after.

@lucidc thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you are still reasonably happy with the program given the current situation. Can you add your thoughts on what someone said regarding students having to just read the textbook and you tubing to learn? Do you feel like you’re still getting a good didactic experience and access to your teachers with the online format?
Also, how much is tuition for the program? I haven’t found any recent numbers.

thanks!

The program costs 120k. I was trying to get in contact with a current student but I have had no success. Preferably a first and second year.

Of course, you will have to do independent learning ( I.e reading from various textbooks and supplementing other sources (eg, Youtube, charts, anki))to help solidify the material. If you think the material will be spoon-fed, then I'd reconsider about going to CRNA school.

Right ... I think that’s a given. Sorry if that question wasn’t clear. I’m not asking if the material will be spoon fed.
Based on that student’s concerns In a previous comment, I’m asking if students feel on their own in the class portions, or feel like they have the tools to learn and good access to their teachers and their expertise. Quality of didactic support is an element that factors into any program, otherwise there would be no need to have teachers at all. I’m specifically looking for thoughts on that.

The instructors are certainly available for supplemental assistance if needed, they very much have an open door policy.

I hope that helps!
