National University Cohort 53

Published

Hello, my name is Ashley and I have recently applied to the nursing program at NU, cohort 53. I am wondering what are the past cut off points to evaluate my likelihood of being accepted, does anyone know ? Also, here is where is stand, TEAS 84% with 3.25 GPA (low I know) and waiting to take the essay portion. I would love to hear some feedback!

Hello, I also checked my SOAR account on a whim and my Notification Center said something about a pending status for my Nursing Application so it brought me to the Nursing Application page where my "Submitted" status was now "Acceptance Offered" so I clicked it and it brought me to a page where I was to accept or decline, and once I accepted, my status changed to "Applicant Accepted", but I still have not received a proper e-mail or mail acceptance letter which I heard is what you get? When I called last week, the person I spoke to said they were releasing the accepted applicants' names on Friday, so maybe she meant they were releasing the e-mails on Friday? Regardless, I'm just happy I checked my SOAR account on a whim.

For those asking, I received an 84% on my TEAS and as for my GPA, I never calculated my overall score but I did have As and Bs for the only specific science classes the program looks at. You can have a pretty good GPA but if you received a C or lower on one of those science courses, I think that might have an affect? Hope that helps. I don't know what my score is for my essay but I was really confident when I was writing it out and believed in every word so I hoped that gave me a boost.

To those who got accepted, congratulations!! To those who got denied, find out what needs to be done and apply again for the cohort that begins in April! What's 4 more months to prepare but a blessing (:

Good luck you guys!

Oh, and to those who are calling and end up speaking to someone at the department, let us know what they say (:

I called this morning, she said the emails will be sent out on Friday. They were still figuring out dates for the orientations because of the holidays!

Hi everyone,

This has been the most excruciating 6 weeks ever. I also checked NU Soar portal on a whim and was surprised to see a pending nursing notification. I got in!! I was anxiously waiting and honestly unsure if I would get in because of my TEAS score. I got a 77% on the TEAS, my GPA was 3.70 and I do not know my essay score.

Congratulations everyone that got in.

For those that did not get in, try not to get discouraged and keep moving forward in pursuit of your dreams!

I was also accepted! Congrats everyone! Has anyone started a facebook group for cohort 53 yet? I don't see one....So I guess I'll go make one and update with the name of the group :)

Hey everyone! I created a facebook group! The name is National University Cohort 53 SD...please join! :) Excited to meet you all!

Well I didn't want to believe it, but sadly I didn't get in for a second time. I've spoken to admissions and if I had received a better score on my essay I would have made it. I had a good teas and an ok GPA, but the essay seems to always trip me up. I'm really sad and frustrated about the entire thing, but am trying to stay as positive as possible. I really thought that I did better this time around. I have to regroup and try to see what I can do better. Definitely try to take the TEAS over and get a better score and maybe retake one of the classes that brings down my GPA. Although that just means that I am spending more money and taking out yet another loan for school. I am actively trying to find other school options as well because I know that this is what I want to do with my life and I can't let this one setback stop me from accomplishing my goal.

The cutoff was 84 and my total came out to 85.something

I was denied. :( !!!!! I just got off the phone with the nursing advisor and she said the cut off for this cohort was 84.03 and I was a 79.69. I got a 3.25/5 on my essay and she said if i got a 4/5 I would have been an alternate. Pretty bummed but already submitted my application for the next cohort. Back to the books I go! Congrats to everyone who got in!

LuLu What was your teas and GPA? Don't give up yet, 3rd times a charm right? :)

Thanks for the encouragement all!

Hi Everyone!! I also applied to Cohort 53. I received an 83.3% on my Teas and I have a 4.0. I tried my absolute best on the essay portion but I have no idea what my score could possibly be. Im feeling a little discouraged having so many applicants and a limited amount of seats. I was told we will find out wether we got in over email on December 22nd. And I also heard that there are under 200 applicants now. Good luck to everyone!!

There is a new forum for cohort 54! I hope we get in!!

For those of you who have taken the essay, can you elaborate a little on why Elizabeth said it needs to be APA format? If it is a personal essay that we aren't doing research and citing sources for, what aspects of APA will apply?
