National University Cohort 62 San Diego

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Just wanted to make a thread for aspiring nurses who are applying to cohort 62 at National University in San Diego!

I feel good about my interview. Bottom line is you should all be so proud of yourselves. We made it this far through lots and lots of hard work. The interviewers are probably expecting everyone to be really nervous, it's like the most important interview some of us have probably had thus far!! You're all superstars!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that. Mines was at 2:00 but they took me way early. Do you have prior healthcare experience? I think they asked there questions based upon whether You have prior experience or not.

Yeah I work as a CNA at a hospital! I think you’re right about the question selection.

I hope we find out before the weekend! does anyone know how many they select for the cohort?

I was asked why I wanted to be a nurse, why did I choose Nationals program, why is diversity in healthcare important, how do nurses help to shape the healthcare industry, and how can non verbal communication affect the dynamic between the nurse and the patient.

My questions were

1) why national

2) name 3 important aspects regarding professionalism in nursing

3) give an example of a mistake you’ve made on the job

4) why are you choosing a career in the healthcare field.

5) what is the difference between diversity and inclusion

i think they ask different questions based on whether or not you have prior healthcare experience. I think they may also judge more harshly ?

I'm pretty sure they accept 48 along with a couple alternates.

What are your other stats? Gpa and teas score? Because I think that you’re in good shape for the interview given your health care experience

Yeah I only have a 3.5 GPA & 81.3 TEAS, very middle of the road lol. It could really go either way I’m just hoping for the best!

If you did well on this interview, I think your chances are good. My Gpa is 3.91, teas 90.
mom hoping I at least scored a 15 on this interview?. If I did, I think my chances are super high

Even if you didn’t score well on the interview your stats are DEFINITELY good enough to get you in! Don’t stress

my GPA is 3.7ish my TEAS is 88. Last cohort I had an 80 on the TEAS and got alternate. I retook it to be more competitive this time around. We shall see!

How did you study differently the second time around? That’s definitely where I lacked was how to study for it!!

What was your teas breakdown?

I joined some facebook groups and found a very clear outline. The only thing I was lacking the first time around was science. So I found a very clear cut science outline and I bought the practice tests on the ATI website. I tooke the practice tests and wrote down everything I was struggling with or answered wrong and I watched youtube videos, studied previous power points from my A&P classes, took rigorous notes, went on quizlet. I studied non stop for two weeks straight. It was hell. But paid off.
