Napa ADN Fall 2012

U.S.A. California

Hello Everyone!

I am planning on attending the ADN program at Napa Valley College in August and I was wondering if anyone else out here is doing the same thing.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Thanks for the heads up Dianah! Well, I don't have any new news about the program, only that I just found out they raised the tuition fee per unit up to $46 on top of books and lab fees! That's almost a 100% increase! That's a lot of money! I'm kinda bummed ! I just thought I'd share.

Yeah, I know! An increase to $46 is a little intense. That is why I am saving as much as I can right now with my current job before I go as a fulltime student this August. I have always been working, so it will definitely be a change that I need to get use to when I don't go to work while in the nursing program. This career change to healthcare will definitely be a challenge, but it's something I am willing to do.

Have you all done all your classes at NVC?

I'm going to try out for financial aid, but I may be too late for it :(. Yeah, I've done all my classes at NVC. How about you?

Hi xsinshine! It shouldn't be too late for financial aid. I think NVC has a deadline of September. I submitted mine a few weeks ago and it was still good to go. I did most of my classes at NVC and Solano because I had to find classes to meet my schedule. I was working full-time during these classes from Fall 2010 and finally finished my pre-reqs right before I submitted my paperwork for the program last year.

I agree, it's not too late for financial aid. Be sure to apply for the fee waiver that will take care of the tuition fee. I'm having a little trouble myself with the financial aid due to excess units but hopefully I get approved before class starts. BTW, did any of you read on the website about turning in the Orientation Quiz -- ON TIME.. but I did not read any deadline, nor the quiz itself. However, I googled the quiz and a quiz came up at ADN NVC website, but the dates are way passed, I'm thinking that must be from last year's enrollees. I may just have to wait for the handbook, perhaps that will clear things up.

I did not see a quiz on the website either, and I think it is from the previous semesters. I am not sure whether to do my background/drug screen already or wait till they update the information on the NVC webpage.

Hey guys, yeah I think that quiz is from the previous semester judging from the dates. I hope the handbook is going to be available soon too.

Minty! How was the BLS class? I will try and take the one available on the 29th.

The BLS class was very informative and quick. I'm glad I did that this week. I am getting all of my background and drug screening done this week also because I may be fairly busy the next month or so with my job. The nearest place for the drug screen is at Workhealth by Queen of the Valley.

I have done all of my immunizations/titers, physical, BLS certification, drug/background screening. I checked over the reminder section at the NVC website and it seems like I have everything and I will be mailing it off today. However, In the immunization packet to do list, it has this HealthStream, but it isn't mentioned in the reminders section of the ADN-Nursing Fall 2012. Has anyone done the Healthstream?

Great for you!,

I'm still on my 2nd step PPD testing, I've scheduled everything to be done by the end of this month, the HealthStream is actually on the reminder section.

Here's the exact note:

You will need to complete the HealthStream online educational program before entering the clinical portion of your ADN program. Please go to the HealthSteam instruction site for more information. This must be completed by the first week of school 8/24/2012.

So we have time, I plan to have that done by the end of this month as well.

hey, just curious what number on the list were you guys? i might not make it this semester. i'm getting closer, but it might just take one more semester...

Hi chartreuse16! It feels good to get things out of the way and make sure I have everything in early enough just in case there are things I have to get redone.

I emailed about the Healthstream and we will get more info on it from our instructor the first week of class. I think I will do that after I get the proper instructions.
