Mt. Sinai $68,000 effective 1/07
"starting salary" is different from "base salary".
Any nurse who has experience will have those years added on at a rate that is agreed by the NYSNA contract (in an NYSNA hospital). One NYSNA hospital is $1,000 additional for each year of RN experience (up to 26) so the "starting salary" could be substantially higher than the starting salary of a new grad.

I should have mentioned she had about a year's experience, and had difficulty getting into NYP even though she had worked there as a nursing student as a companion. She basically stalked the recruiter until she finally got a call about a job opening in mat/child. Also, she's doing night shifts.
(Sorry if I mislead anyone)
I work at Northridge Hospital in Northridge CA and make $36.62 days, with 1 yr exp.
A friend of mine just got hired at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks CA. He said the starting salary for new grad RN is $37/hr for days.
I think some of the CA salaries are with overtime and shift differential added. This skews some of the #'s. There are a few places where nurses make a lot, like SF area, but I think most others don't make $100,000 like we keep hearing.
