I am thinking of applying to EC and getting my RN.I have my LPN now and went the traditional route that way and struggled though it. I like the idea that I can study by myself and take the exams when I feel ready.
Only concern of course is the money factor. I know how much it is to enroll and to apply, but what about books/study guides and is it extra money to take the tests that each class goes with???? Can't you just take them online already??

The test IS the class, in a manner of speaking. You don't turn in assignments, you take the test. It's not online because you have to go to a secure testing center so there's no question as to who actually took the test.

The money factor will be an issue no matter where you decide to get your RN. No getting around that.
Like earlier stated, you study for the exams and then take the test at a Sylvan/Prometric center closest to you.
There are no nursing "classes" in the traditional sense.
The closest thing to regular classes is the workshops you can attend (optionally) for preparing for the clinical exam.
As far as your general ed, science, english, psych, etc. you can either test out of them the same way, or take them at a local college and then transfer the credits into your EC degree program.
