My little story!

Published

Hi my beautiful AN friends! Background: I graduated May 2012 RN BSN, My test grades the last two years have been( A,B's and few C's) Mostly B's. Due to being a terrible test taker and having anxiety, sometimes leading to panic attacks....I have felt like this my entire time in nursing school.I have reads so many posts about nclex, and what materials you guys used.....and because I have so much anxiety, I ordered over 10 freaking nclex books( which are pretty thick). My school is forcing us to take virtualed ATI, which I am not doing so good, some answers seem so wrong ! I took a review class and I have done a total of 3000 questions, and I swear every second, every minute of the day I cannot stop thinking about failing the nclex. I don't have any motivation left in me, I have 10 or more nclex books and don't know where to begin or how to improve my damn scores. I read posts here about people having to take the nclex 3,4, 8 or more times and this scares the he'll out of me, considering I have anxiety and I will die from a panic attack if I fail the first time lol......oh and when I take 90-300 question tests, I do so well the first 75 questions and I start to get wrong every other one because I can't sit or focus past 75 questions, my brain shuts down :(((Please please please help me how to study for this life threatening test, where to start, any test taking tips, what books are the bes of the best for nclex......I appreciate any opinions, ideas, creativity, suggestions etc!Hugs and kisses beautiful friends

healthstar- you remind me of me (i graduated dec 2010). I HAVE TERRIBLE test anxiety and I freeze over EVERYTHING mind goes blank, palms start to sweat etc. I was able to answer questions without being in the testing situation just fine. it was a matter of anxiety for me. The only thing that helped me was seeing a counselor who taught me biofeedback, and gave me a deep breathing relaxation cd. Basically the cd (which i am sure you could find something similar on line) was a recording that helped me control my breathing and calm my mind. This helped TREMENDOUSLY, i did it before studying and then before my NCLEX. The deep breathing is soemthign you need to practice in order for it to work. you basically calm your mind and focus on the physical presence.

Good luck! I reccommend you try it.
