I love being a nurse. But boy am I starting to hate my place of employment...
The cutbacks in Medicare and Medicaid has steadily made Mr Corporate unhappy. Not only are we expected to attend a fundraising event to raise money for the facility- they've also trimmed short, the extra changed we get on our shift differential. To top of, Blue Cross coverage suck. I have 5 thousand deductible- and its 200 per pay check. Quietly, I asked- where is God ? Don't get me wrong. I appreciate having a job. But man, something's got to give.
Tonight we were again 1 body short of STNA; and as the charged nurse I think seriously; I might as well be given the STNA's assignment. My marbles was busy grating trying to accommodate how I can feed people; toilet people and put people to bed during my never ending med pass. The desk phone rings..ringing...the call lights- ding ding ding. It's a Psych and skilled unit rolled into one; and 2 very special screaming voices hollering intermittently for our attention. I'm trying. Trying hard, really.
Quietly, I asked. I asked where is God in all of this?
My co workers and I look at each other, words need not spoken. This is wrong. So wrong.

needless to say, i read all of your previous post and to be honest in everyone of them i noticed that you're asking for help, which makes me believe that you and your colleagues are not receiving the adequate support from your nm's and administration at your facility. having said that, i strongly believe its' time that all of you get together and demand the proper support from management and guidance in order to deliver a high caliber of patient care.... i shall keep you and your co-workers in my prayers... aloha~
