Hi everyone,
Just wanted to come and say hi, I just got my first LPN job last week.
I was going to wait and then I decided that the experience would be good to have. I graduated in May 2008 and passed boards in aug. then I also started college for the RN degree in Aug also. I have my own beauty salon business that I want to keep open so I do that part time, so needless to say I am a busy girl.
It's nice to know that if I have any problems or questions I will have some where to come for advice, so far my first two days of orientation have not been bad, very friendly and caring atmosphere, the workers are willing to answer questions and team work is superior there. I really think i am going to like the work, i am so glad i decided to go on and become a nurse it will be a rewarding job.
Good luck to everyone here!

Hi, have a question....congrats by the way!
I am a male and a career changer...I will be attending LPN program this january. I have medical experience at all...I've been pulling my hair out by trying to find a hospital/nursing home...any facility that will take me as a PCT to begin some training. They all require atleast 1 year experience...
How did you get experience before getting certified or licensed??? Help me out please.

Hi there, I have recently passed the LPN exam in Texas, I am very scared. I haven't applied for any jobs, mainly because there's an issue with traveling to Texas sent I live in Louisiana. In the great state of La. we must have a La. license to practice nursing in La. So I sit and wait for the board of La. to make the decision to give me there decision. Can someone give me there opinion about what to do next.
I was in your shoes when I started nursing school. I never worked at any medical facility or anything for that matter. I knew I was into the medical field, but besides doing some volunteering work at a local hospital back in my native country of the Dominican Republic I didn't have any experience to back me up. The first week of clinical I felt lost because I didn't even know how to talk to a patient. Most of my classmates where CNA's already so they had a great advantage over me. I didn't let that botter me, I kept asking questions and doing my best. It didn't took long for me to catch up with the "experts". I really wanted this, I always felt that I was born to work in the medical field. In two days I start my PRN job at the MRDD of my neighbor county, I am not nervous, I am a little anxious though. It will be a different environmet with different people, but I am pretty adaptable. Bottom line is that you will be fine. If you can get a job as a nursing assistant go for it, but if not, don't sweat it. You can still become a great nurse without previous experience. Good luck and God bless.

Just wanted to know are you in ltc?
Not really, I start tomorrow at the MRDD. In a week I start my second one through an agency as a homehealth pediatric nurse.
