My CGFNS records has expired

I am an educated RN outside of the US and has completed the CGFNS about 4 years ago, passed the NCLEX and worked for 2 and a half years here in Minnesota as an RN. Me and my wife are planning to relocate to Illinois from Minnesota because of a job offer.

I am in the middle of transferring my RN license and one of the requirements was the "Healthcare Profession & Science Course-by-Course Report", the problem is that my CGFNS has already expired and they have deleted it already. The CGFNS lady I talked to told me do the reevaluation, pay $210 and submit School Diploma, do all of them again like I did before. She told me it will take at least 10 weeks. Plus, my IELTS has already expired. Is there any other way for me to acquire this CGFNS certificate? I mean it doesn't make sense, I already have the Minnesota RN license, why all of this again? Thank you!

UPDATE: I have talked to the Minnesota Board of Nursing, they told me they still have my CGFNS Records on file, I will just send it together with my application. I also talked again the Illinois BON representative, he said they might not accept it, but just send it anyway.

Im a nurse in the philippines... its my second time to apply for a visa screen I would like to ask since im an nclex passer and cgfns passer as well... can i used my ielts with my cgfns to get a visa screen certificate??? Or do i need my nclex to get a cgfns certificate tnxs

jedremonde, I am also a foreign educated RN. I took CGFNS in 2002. I just transferred my MO license to IL at the beginning of this year(2015). If you read the instruction carefully, I believe they accept the original CGFNS certificate. When i did mine, i didn't send any side by side course review whatsoever, i only send them my original CGFNS certificate. They sent me back the Certificate in a no fold envelope. Hope this help.

Yes, they do accept the original CGFNS certificate, which I don't have. I had the CES report, which was submitted directly to the BON. I hope everything goes well. Thank you!

It shouldn't be a problem, I think but to be sure you may try to contact CGFNS directly.

I am also foreign educated and my cgfns records also expired. It’s been 6 yrs since. I was moving to a different hospital in the same state and that hospital was looking for my cgfns report. The problem is they already deleted it. Does Tx BON keep it? Do I need to start all over again???

Same thing with my situation. Do I really need to undergo again in CGFNS to get CES Report? Please Advise. Thanks.

Hello! Wow this post aged really well! We moved to a different state, Fl. Much better! I only need to pay the application fee for their license, now I have both Mn and FL licenses. Sometimes, we just need to find a state that doesn’t require a lot of hurdles.

We are planning in moving their as well.But my license in VA is about to expire and we live in WV now.Glad it all work out for you!
