Hello there... I've been trying to enter Canada as LPN for months now. I have an agency in manila who process all my papers but a delay after a delay kept on coming up. I've read from a site in the net that this was due to the incompetence of Filipino Nurses who were previously deployed.. I refused to believe this rumor since I always know that Filipino nurses are among the best nurses a country could possibly hire... and yet, there are many postings from different sites about this... I'm just confused.. please help me out here...
I hate to say it, but this is a really awful time for you to be here looking for work, PINAY77. The Big Day when the Alberta government takes total control of the health care system is looming (April 1/09) and the rumour mill is cranked up to fever pitch. There will be lay-offs coming and they've told us that front-line providers (nurses, docs, RTs, NAs, techs and so on) are safe, but I wouldn't trust them to tell me that water is wet. The uncertainty is really getting to a lot of people. I truly hope you're successful in finding employment in health care while you work through the registration process, but I really fear that you'll be working at Tim Horton's...

You might be able to work as a nursing attendant/aide. You won't make a lot of money though.
