I am having an issue with AP2 and I'm afraid it will keep me from being a nurse. I am currently still in the A range with room (midterm average was a 94), had an A in AP1, and I will probably still finish with an A in 2 but I feel like I am not able to grasp some really import aspects...at all. We have so much work that the fact that I have barely made Bs on my last two exams doesn't show in my overall grade. I do the work just fine and get the max grade, do well in lab exams, and get probably 85% of this really well but the microscopic stuff...not at all. I can not for the life of me remember things like cell cycles, so Krebs, Glycolysis, ETC., etc., is beyond me. I could tell you what the basic purpose and out come is but everything in between. I'm still having a hard time remembering actions of a lot of substances in the body, which substance acts in which way and which substance is an enzyme to what, etc.
It is really bothering me because I'm afraid this is going to keep me from doing well in N/S. I struggled with the same thing in AP1 and in nutrition. I did very well on all of nutrition except, the micro. information. It was the only class til now I have gotten a B in and it was by 1 point. I am afraid I will do horrible in Micro. because of this. I only have four classes left and I believe I will have all As except Micro. and the B I already do have.
I guess this is just a vent. I'm scared. I really want to be a good nurse.

I really feel your pain. I'm half way through ap2 now, and though as of now I have an A avg, we just got into glycolysis, the tca cycle, etc. And I am lost! Up to this point, I have really been able to grasp and understand things, but this is taking some work! Lol. I have no doubt, however, that you and me will survive. I have found that looking up things on the internet really helps me. Sometimes its explained more thoroughly, and dare I say a little 'dumbed' down for people like me!
Doodles mom...Much luck to you. I know we can get through it. I just hope I can with enough of this.
I made a C for the first time, of any class, on my exam this week. Weird thing is, I am doing Urinary and have done all of my work for the week and I missed 1.5 points of of 140 pts. worth of work. I absolutely loved this chapter. I even understood some filtration process and diffusion of all the ions. Four more chapters and two more exams. I hope finish out strong. Looking forward to Reproductive and Heredity. Not so much on fluids and electrolytes but I hope doing good on Urinary will help with that.

I think a lot of the stuff is a matter of being exposed to it multiple times, in different ways and by different instructors. For me, for example, acid-base balance made no sense to me in A&P. No idea why, but it was a total brain block. I understood it a little bit better in chemistry but still didn't totally "get" it (and I had AMAZING professors for A&P and chem). This sememster, in patho, our professor had an awesome RT prof give us a blood gas tutorial and all of a sudden, the light went on.
I've heard that so many of the things we learn in pre-reqs makes a lot more sense when it's presented again in NS in the context of treating a patient. Hang in there, keep giving it your all and I bet you will do great in NS!
