MUSC BSN FALL 2014

Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!

Just called and I got in too! She said there were 426 applicants this year.

I am on the alternate list as well. If you are on the alternate list you are guaranteed admission in Spring 2015. There are roughly 30 alternates on the list.

Congrats y'all! If anyone calls and is on the alternate list, see if you can find out how long it is and how many people are usually offered a spot that are on it! Also, for those that have been accepted, did they tell you when you have to make a decision by?

Sorry Apriest. I called this morning and did not get in either. Im out of state though with volunteer hours and work experience to give other applicants and idea of how competitive. I hope you get a spot with being on the alternate list. Good luck to the rest of the brave ones who call today!

Thanks for that info Willxk! Would they tell you where you are at on the list? She told me she couldn't tell me "at this time" but I don't know if that means I can find out later or not. Yikes 30 seems like a lot. Super excited that means I'm guaranteed for the spring though! I had no idea.

Im really sorry garcias! I was rejected last spring too. It's a terrible feeling! Did you apply to any other programs?

Also curious, is anyone that was accepted waiting to hear from other schools as well?

No I didn't ask her where I was on the alternate list. I'm out of state so hopefully I find out soon if I am accepted. She didn't tell you about guaranteed admission to Spring 2015. I hope what I heard was valid because I was so nervous on the phone!! I was literally shaking lol

Crap maybe that means only those that are out of state and on the alternate list are guaranteed. I hope not. Dang it! Did she just offer the information to you or did you ask? I was also super nervous so I wasn't thinking to ask those questions other than where I was on the list.

The director of student affairs said that they do move through the alternate list, especially for students with out of state status, so don't lose hope yet Willxk! She said that there were three people who were offered admission the Thursday before the semester started though, so it could be at any time!

We had 4-5 people drop the program the day before it started and those slots were filled by alternates. We also had 3 additional people defer to the fall, but I am not sure if alternates replaced them.

Also, unless they changed their policy, alternate status does not guarantee admission in the spring. You will need to reapply for spring 2015.

Congrats to everyone, and alternates... You may get a call the Friday before school starts, so don't give up hope yet!
