MUSC ACCEL NURSING PROGRAM: How did you get in?

Published

Hey all,

I've been browsing a lot of threads but can't really find any answers I'm looking for and I'm hoping that I am not the only one with these questions...I plan on applying to MUSC for Spring '10 and I am curious about those of you who recently were accepted:

what was your GPA? - do they combine previous college degree GPA's with most current or just take most current?

SAT/ACT score?

In-state/out-of-state?

work experience/volunteer experience? How much experience?

Race/Ethnicity (just wondering how diverse the program is - you don't have to answer if you don't want to!!)

I know it's a competitive school, I keep going back and forth about my chances of getting in, but trying to stay positive!!!

Thanks in advance!

My essay (for fall '09 - accepted!) was 477 words. It was a little over a page long when double spaced. If you have any questions about the essay (or anything else) email someone at the College of Nursing to ask about it. Everyone there is super nice. Even if you email a question to someone who can't answer it, they'll forward your email to someone who can. (They've done that plenty of time for me!) Good luck, guys!

You're right, they are very helpful at the College of Nursing. I definitely had my share of questions for them.

I'm curious what your essay question was for the Fall 09 application? and was there a word limit?

I'm applying for Spring 2010 as well.

Did anyone figure out if the essay was supposed to be 100 or 1000 words?

TIA

Good Morning All! I submitted my application last week. It is in fact only a 100 word essay. I confirmed with one of the admissions counselors. I was also told that they no longer require SAT or ACT scores. They use 3 different GPA's - 1 based on Science classes only, 1 based on prereq classes and 1 cumulative. They also look for folks with either Healthcare Volunteer experience or Healthcare work experience. I'm sure there are exceptions but this is what was shared with me from the Admissions office. Good luck everyone!
