Murray State First DNP Class

I just wanted to start a thread on here for anyone attending Murray State. Any advice, comments, concerns? I feel so relieved to have gotten in and very excited to start school!

Hello. I'll be starting Murray's anesthesia program in August of 2014.

Hey nice to meet you. What site will you be attending? I'm at the Morehead site.

I'll be at the madisonville site

Are you excited? What are you doing to prepare? PM me sometime, I would like to start meeting fellow classmates.

Hi there, I am interested in the program and live in Paducah but would like some advice on how to finance the three year course?

Basically there are two main routes for financing. You can start by saving like a mad man- which is what I do. Or you can be prepared to take out quite a bit in student loans. Loans are handy but you will have to pay more back later. Try and avoid taking the maximum amount. However, if you have to make sure you are good at budgeting and repay them ASAP. Scholarships for grad school are out there, however it isn't like undergrad. My best advice is save and try to lead an uncomplicated life until you finish school.

I'm in at the Madisonville site! I'll PM you.

I was also accepted in the Madisonville site for the class starting August 2014. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I hope my inability to PM anyone is not an indication of how my next three years of education are going to go. In answer to your question about what I'm doing to prepare. Quite honestly, nothing as far as education goes. I was preparing to to take the CCRN, but decided not to since being admitted (perhaps a poor choice - but I'm banking every extra dollar I can find/save). I'm working extra shifts, etc. I plan to use mostly student loans for tuition prices, but I'll be getting married on September 13 (yes, a month after classes start), and I think we will be able to "live" on my future spouse's salary. Perhaps everyone here knows, but our first year (per Lorrie Springer) is 99% online. We have to go to the site for two days (i think for an orientation) and then for a few more days in january, but other than that our classes will be all online.

I think the best thing we can do to prepare is to relax, and enjoy every minute before we start. Anxious to get to know everyone.

it won't let me create a group until i have people to invite, so if you like it, we can make a group so we can all communicate easily.

Got the group created (I just invited my fiancee so I could start the group). The name of the group is MSU Anesthesia 2017.

I have resisted joining Facebook for so long. I doubt I will join so I won't be in it the Facebook thread. Haha. Glad we are getting a group of people together who are attending. I agree that we need to relax and enjoy this time off!
